David Cormack’s Saturday Selections on TRF

Our first foray over fences for the 20-19/20 season ended with a couple of frustrating second places. Let’s hope we can go a couple of places better with this weekend’s pair.

Both run at Wincanton, where several take my eye tomorrow.

First up, in the 13.15 race, I like ENOLA GAY (9/2 Bet365). Venetia Williams has her horses running well and this fellow has plenty in his favour. He won’t mind cut, likes the course (a win and a second from two runs) and has generally gone well fresh in the past. He’s had a wind operation and faces a couple of rivals who have a couple of questions to answer. He’s no shoo-in but for me should be shorter than the 9/2 bet365 currently offering.

In the following race a strong case can be made for DANSE IDOL (9/2 Coral, Ladbrokes). Lightly raced, this six year old mare has never been out of the first two in her five runs over hurdles. She finished runner up in a couple of Listed Novice Hurdles and registered a good win here on her hurdling debut just under a year ago. All the signs are that she’ll take a bit of beating and, even allowing for some promising types in the race, the 9/2 looks worth taking.

Have a great weekend.
