David Cormack’s Saturday Selections November 14th

Cheltenham takes centre-stage again tomorrow with some good racing including the Paddy Power Gold Cup.

But our first bet of the day is on the all-weather at Lingfield where, in the 12.45, OH THIS IS US looks pretty generously priced by bet365 at 8/1. He shoulders top weight but deservedly so and has won off higher marks in the past, including a course and distance win off a 6lb higher mark back in Feb 2019. He goes well for Marquand and arrives in good form so all looks set fair for a decent effort and the 8/1 is too big.

The second bet is at Cheltenham (1.40) and relies a bit more on potential over substance to date. Henry de Bromhead is always a man to fear when pitching over on these shores and the fact he has set the four year old filly ZARKAREVA (10/1 Paddy Power, Betfair) what looks a fairly stiff challenge should be taken as a signal that he thinks a lot of her. She receives weight all round, including just shy of a stone from Fusil Raffles and, while it is likely she will need every bit of the weight concession, the manner of her two recent chase wins suggest she is a horse of some potential and the 10/1 is worth taking.
