Glorious Goodwood experiments with the return of paying customers tomorrow in what, hopefully, may be the start of a return to the track for punters starved of live action for many months.
We were starved of a winner since the return after COVID but remedied that last week when Bay Watch put up a very game effort to make it a hat-trick of wins. We needed that win after a barren spell and it keeps us in front for the year.
Both selections tomorrow run at Goodwood. In the 4.10, the Qatar handicap HOMESPIN is well worthy of an interest at 20/1 (bet365). A winner here in a nursery last year he’s ran poorly in both runs since. On the first of those he slipped leaving the stalls and was always behind so I am inclined to forgive that effort in full. He then had a long break, during which he was gelded, before returning at the start of June at Newmarket. He looked in need of the run that day and I am expecting a much more solid effort here. He undoubtedly has questions to answers but has sound excuses for his last two efforts making the 20/1 look tempting enough. His trainer targets this meeting and has a fine record in this particular race.
The other selection runs in the following race, the 4.40. Clive Cox has been having a good season and his FOREVER FORWARD (11/2 Betfair, Paddy power, BetVictor) looks to have a major chance. His neck second to Knight Salute at Sandown on his debut a couple of weeks ago was a good first effort, the form on a par with that shown by market leader here, Titian, on his opening effort. There is no real reason that Forever Forward shouldn’t come on as much as Titian for their respective first runs so, at the prices, I think Forever Forward is the bet.
Have a great weekend.
