David Cormack’s Saturday Selections – 22nd August 2020

We had a nice winner last weekend with Thibaan (one of three advised) who won well at Doncaster and I am hopeful we can repeat the dose tomorrow.
Some great racing at York this week with some fantastic horses. Love, Battaash and Ghaiyyath are all at the very top of their respective divisions globally and it would have been great to have been able to see their wins in the flesh but not to be.
York’s Saturday card looks very competitive and although there are one or two tempting propositions it does look a bit tough so for betting purposes I’ll be concentrating on Sandown tomorrow where two catch my eye.
In the 2.05 Godolphin’s very well bred Sea The Stars colt BRILLIANT LIGHT (13/2 generally) can score on his handicap debut off a reasonable looking mark. He came up against a really good one when beaten nearly five lengths by Darain. Next time at Wolverhampton he made amends, but only just, beating Crystal Pegasus a neck. That was a good effort and entitles him to a fair shout here. I think there is more to come and that he’ll be tough to beat here with the 13/2 looking a couple of points long.
Later in the card, in the 3.55 DREAM WORLD (13/2 bet365) also looks similarly over-priced. Michael Appleby’s filly has winning form off 2lbs higher and looked to be coming back to a peak last time on her second run after a break (good fourth at Doncaster in similar event). She’s competitive in this type of affair and looks on a winnable mark so looks a bit of value at the price.
Have a great weekend.
