David Cormack’s Saturday Selections – 21st November

Hi everyone –

Three for tomorrow, all at Haydock.

In the 12.40 DEISE ABA (5/1 bet365, betVictor) merits a bet. He won twice last season en-route to a good run when 5th in the Kim Muir at the Cheltenham Festival. His mark of 141 may still not be his limit and I think he looks one to keep on the right side.

Just over an hour later on the same card (the 1.50) Hobbs and Johnson team up again with LE LIGERIEN (22/1 generally). His two best runs – both wins – have been at this trip on his only two runs on such a surface (one of those at this venue). He went up sharply enough in the handicap after the second of those wins and struggled in the County Hurdle (led until folded tamely after the second last). It is a hot enough race but he looks worth a throw of the dart at a big price.

The final selection runs in the last race at Haydock (the 3.35).  MIDNIGHT TUNE has won his last three completed starts and hasn’t suffered too harshly at the hands of the handicapper. Amongst those three wins were two PU efforts so enthusiasm is tempered (has had wind operation since last run) but ground is fine, stable are firing on all cylinders and the 6/1 with William Hill and BetVictor looks tempting enough, albeit this will be the furthest he’s raced so a bit to prove on that front but he stays 3m well and the doubt is built into the price.
