David Cormack’s Saturday Selections – 11th January

We got 2020 off to a winning start last Saturday with 4/1 (adv and SP) Gala Ball who battled on well to give us cause to continue celebrating beyond the festive period.

I like two tomorrow on what looks a relatively low-key Saturday.

First up in the 2.05 at Kempton I think FRODN (2/1 Bet365, Coral, William Hill) looks well over-priced. Top Notch will be a formidable rival but Frodon has the better form when at peak and will appreciate both track and trip.

The price is a response to a couple of below par efforts on his two outings this season but he can easily be forgiven his comeback run and never really looked happy in the Betfair Chase in a race which wasn’t really run to suit him. He is reported by his trainer to be thriving after an operation on some ulcers which were diagnosed after that last run.

Top Notch is a tough horse who is likely to give his running but Frodon can beat him if back to at or near his best and the price appeals strongly.

I’m less confident on the second bet but KEEN ON (7/1 bet365) looks to have a very respectable chance twenty minutes later (Warwick 2.25). He’s two for two over hurdles and looks closely matched with market rivals Shan Blue and Harry Senior (both significantly shorter priced). Decor Irlandais is arguably the pick on ratings but failed in a handicap off his handicap mark and the rating may overestimate his ability a little. There is little to choose between the four but Keen On, who should enjoy both trip and ground,  should have as good a chance as any so looks a pick at the prices.

Have a great weekend,

David
