David Cormack’s Saturday Selection – October 23rd

Just the one selection tomorrow up north at Doncaster.

In the day’s big race, the Futurity Trophy Stakes off at 3.15, there is a hot favourite in Aidan O’Brien;s Luxembourg. There was plenty to like about his two wins but at this stage he can only be rated on a par with a coupe of his rivals tomorrow and with his high head carriage not necessarily a disadvantage but certainly a little ? I think he is opposable at Evens with the yard seemingly under a bit of cloud to add to the doubts.

On form to date BAYSIDE BOY (5/1 generally) is on a par with the favourite. His third place run in the Dewhurst was highly creditable and he showed his liking for both this track an a bit of cut when beating the much vaunted Reach For The Moon in the Champagne Stakes the time before.

He battled on well that day, as he did at Newmarket, and I am happy that he looks the value bet in the race.
