Hi everyone. The cards look a lot more interesting this Saturday than last and there are some interesting races, with one bet standing out for me.
We’ve now entered the phase of the season where horses with Cheltenham aspirations are kept under lock and key but Paul Nicholls is a trainer who, despite his festival successes, has never been focussed on the festival with tunnel vision and he has reaped the rewards by scooping up big prizes throughout the season that others may have shirked.
He has a very interesting runner tomorrow in the 14:13 at Wincanton in the shape of BRELAN d’AS (4/1 generally) . This fellow was second in the 2019 running of the BetVictor Gold Cup off the same mark as he runs off here. This is MUCH less competitive and given he will enjoy the ground and is a former course winner (on his only start here) he has much in his favour.
He is up against a couple of decent improving sorts, both in their novice seasons, in Flargant Delitiep and La Chameleon but they will need to improve to beat Brelan d’As if he is anything like the form of that Cheltenham run just over a year ago. His recent 2nd at Ludlow marked a return to form and he is a very tempting proposition at the current 4/1.
