Everton vs Liverpool – Sunday 4.15pm
A trio of Sunday games culminates with the Merseyside derby from Goodison Park where Everton will be out for revenge after Jordan Pickford’s error gifted Liverpool an injury time win in the reverse fixture in December.
Jurgen Klopp’s side could find themselves playing catch-up if Man City beat Bournemouth as expected on Saturday and it will be interesting to see how they deal with that pressure given it’s not a situation they have been in much this season.
They had a little wobble when they drew consecutive games with Leicester and West Ham, but there is little indication that they are in danger of ‘bottling’ it – their only league defeat all season remains their loss to Man City at the start of the year.
Everton have had a strange season; massively inconsistent but they have a decent home record and will still fancy themselves to take seventh place.
Their terrible record in these games counts against them though and I’m taking the Reds to complete another league double over their city rivals. A Liverpool winning margin of one is 5/2 with Bet365 and SkyBet while a 1-0 away win is 13/2 with SkyBet.
Fulham vs Chelsea – Sunday 2.05pm
This game could be a good opportunity for Gonzalo Higuain to kick-start his Chelsea career after he came in for some criticism from Maurizio Sarri this week for his lack of mobility,
His only two goals in his seven Chelsea appearances thus far came against Huddersfield a few weeks ago and he couldn’t ask for a kinder fixture to get back on the scoresheet than against the league’s worst defence.
After the humiliation they suffered at the Etihad and the madness of Kepa Arrizabalega’s non-substitution last weeks, Chelsea steadied the ship with a 2-0 win over Spurs in midweek to close the gap on the top four.
Scott Parker takes interim charge of Fulham after Claudio Ranieri’s brief and odd tenure was brought to an end with them 10 points from safety.
A tough run of games coming up means Fulham’s relegation could be confirmed sooner rather than later and I can’t see them picking up any points in this West London derby.
Higuain to score first and Chelsea to win is available at odds of 7/5 with SkyBet
