Does anyone know if Bachasson is still heading to Cheltenham and what his possible target might be?

Im not any expert on what horses qualify for what races so i could be way out. But something like the county hurdle looks the only other option than the supreme. Maybe he doesn’t qualify, I don’t know. The horse seems to need 2miles on good ground to be seen at his best.

Wow What a performance by killultagh Vic. He didn’t as much as flick a fence on the way around. He only made a mistake at the last because he jumped it too well. Nearly fell and managed to make up a huge amount of ground from a standing start after the last fence, even though ruby only had one iron. Wow looks like a Jlt winner

We don’t have one. We only had 3 runners in the Champion hurdle last year and this year will be no different

And two of those three were vaniteux and bertimont

If his breathing is ok and can learn to settle, Peace And Co will beat all the Irish.
My Tent Or Yours injured, would give Faugheen a run for his money at his best.

You must be having a laugh with peace and co. Him, hargam and top notch haven’t managed to win a race between them since the triumph. In the processes being beaten by some moderate horses who wouldn’t come within an asses roar of a champion hurdle.

Serious performance by black Hercules. Jumped brilliantly and won comfortably with plenty left in the tank. Pont Alexander was as good as I expected, roi de franc was just better.

Too many races mean quality horses can avoid each other too much

Vautour will not be in this race. It’s as straightforward as that. Riccis representative if he has one is likely to be Champagne Fever.

Watching atr this morning they were discussing Mullins horses for different races. It will be interesting to see what he has for this race. Annie power, Vroom vroom mag, thousand stars, arctic fire, milsean.

What a joke channel 4 really are. There is a race at Kempton at 1:25 but channel 4 coverage is only starting at 1:25 and not showing the race. Why couldn’t they start coverage at 1:20 in time to show the race

And what’s wrong with that? It can be a much superior training achievement to win a Class 5 Chase with a **** horse and win £2000 in cartmel in July as it is for Willie Mullins or Paul Nichols to let some 1/6 on shot hack up for £50000 in a graded race.

Prize money is a nonsense way to judge it. Most winners should be the way as it is with jockeys

I see the BHA senior handicapper has just addressed this issue and confirmed that the correct decision has been made to raise the horse 13lbs.

The question remains why they didn’t run the horse in the PP handicap over course and distance off 147 for more money rather than disadvantageous terms with every other horse in the Lexus? You can’t have it both ways, connections have only themselves to blame if they are concerned about his handicap mark, maybe they’re not as bothered as you about it.

Of course he is going to agree with his own organisations decision. But he also confirmed that the Lexus form should be taken with a pinch of salt. 155 would be fair with Foxrock running to 154 and on his own 152. That would give Don poli only 156 for that race but he only barely ever does enough to win and happens to be a horse I think is over rated anyway.

That would put wb 5lbs higher than any previous run. Bit generous maybe and talking of top notch….the subsequent run?

He is erratic. Was awful at sandown last year and I don’t take handicapping at face value but clearly peace and co is not being rated on last run ? I don’t fancy him now either but it was an all over the place performance and there is a strong case for a line through that .

His subsequent run was poor, there is no denying that, but running in that race was an afterthought. WB is a very quirky and inconsistent horse, on a good day which by all accounts he was on in the morgiana he can put it up to most horses, on a bad day he can be pretty awful. Newcastle was also his 14th run without any significant couple of months rest. I’m no handicapper and I believe we can get too caught up in ratings but if I were to give ratings for the morgiana alone in terms of what they ran to I would rate NC at 163, faugheen at 162 and WB at 158. It’s actually ridiculous that Top Notch is only rated two pounds below Nichols Canyon as we speak and that peace and co is only one pound below him. If those three horses were running in a handicap with NC giving peace and co a pound and top notch two pounds, NC would destroy them. I know British and Irish ratings can be slightly different but that seems a nonsense to me.

Phil Smith the handicapper seems to agree with me. He rated Nichols canyon at 163 and Wicklow brave at 160. My estimates of NC 163 and WB at 158 weren’t too far off

How could he possibly have a hope? He only has a handful of winners if even that

Putting an eleven year old up 13lbs for what he did is excessive.the horse just picked up the pieces in the Lexus

Robert Cooper is excellent. Bit of class about him, and a nice sense of humour
