The big difference there is the majority of football attendees pay to watch the football, and the majority of racing attendees pay for the social occasion / to get leathered.

It’s a puzzler on all kinds of levels but true.

:-) Pretty much sums it up TC.

No other industry would get away with this sort of thing. If this is correct (I always back at best available odds surely nearly everyone does, and I’ve never had an account blocked. Restricted, yes many times but not closed) then it’s clearly blatant false advertising.

Your a smart fella TYF what do u say?

Ah cheers – so the stance is, “Please back each way with us in accordance with our T&C’s, but not when you’ve spotted a good value EW shot”.

Similarly – “Please back with us at our advertised prices in line with our T&C’s, but if you keep getting top market price we’ll not have that”.

I’ll have to watch ASDA don’t ban me, I’m buying my milk from them currently, but if Tesco undercut them on price I’ll be straight in there!

Excuse my ignorance, but what is “Bad EW Betting”?

And regarding not “Arbing”, to echo a comment above, how would Corals (or anyone else) know this was occurring? Presumably this dislike of “Arbing”, is Bookmaking speak for not liking a punter shopping about and consistently getting top price?

Declaration of War – winner of Pattern races on official going ranging between Soft and Good to Firm. He had that versatility too.

Toast of New York – an unusual one for a European Raider, only tried turf twice so best treated as a bit of a special case IMO.

Thanks for the response, very interesting.

Actually (me) describing Sakhee as a mudlark is grossly unfair. Although his best performance was probably the Arc on Heavy, he did had also (among others) win the Juddmonte on Good ground by 7L, and the Dante on Firm ground by 1.25L.

The other ‘Turf’ horse to go close on dirt in the Classic was Giants Causeway, a horse that was extremely versatile regarding the turf going.

Perhaps a horse having versatility regarding the turf going, makes them more likely to adapt to dirt too. Makes sense to me.

EDIT – My curiosity is generic, I agree regarding Gleneagles and wouldn’t personally fancy him whatsoever for the Classic.

Ok but I don’t see why the age of the opponent effects the speed he would run.

Gosden stated he was too immature to win at Sandown, approximately 5 minutes before he won 12 L.

It’s getting a bit old now.

Big G – that’s fair play, differing opinions make for horse races.

LD – agree with much of your posts, but I can’t have connections being forced in to today. Surely he has lost some lustre today, I don’t like the will he won’t he stuff but today in isolation was not to promote stud fees.

As for Solow- what a horse. Marvellous constincency, a real punters mate if you are smart enough to follow him. I’m not.

I got a bit giddy for 10 seconds regarding Air Pilot.

Immaturity to blame for an Irish Derby winner getting beaten? I thought Coolmore had eroded the barrel, clearly not.

Not having that Big G. Won the Irish 2000 on Yielding for a kick off.

He still beat Territories, I think we should ignore the usual ground nonsense and reach the conclusion the Guineas form has turned out to be ordinary.

If they’d skipped today, an illusion of a crack miler heading to stud may have been achieved.

So many conflicting messages from Ballydoyle I think they have confused themselves. Gleneagles cannot act on anything but fast ground, a classic winner on good to yielding. A pure miler, entered in various 10f races and aimed for the B.C. Classic on dirt.

    Bizarre.

This is a much better a race than the Champion and Kodi Bear looks the potential fly in the ointment to me.

Agreed, looks more the sort of field I’d expect for the Brigadier Gerard at Sandown.

    Air Pilot e-w for me.

Certainly not suggesting you are a fool SC, I wouldn’t be so arrogant or rude – but you state there are four potential winners of a event. Even if you have narrowed down correctly to four (logic seems sound enough to me), there is a fifth option to consider – There is no winner of the event, which is extremely likely.

If it was ‘No Winner, No Bet’, you’d have more of a point IMO.

    Cheers APR.

How often are marks assessed / altered, and what is the duration before they come in to effect?
