You are bloody wrong. You are part of the problem Nathan.

“I’ve already posted that Cheltenham is the be all and end all ”
And this is why you are horribly and completely wrong.

“Why People always say its a good job Frankel was trained by Henry Cecil.?”
I don’t. It was cowardly shite to avoid The Arc after smashing up in the 10.5f Juddmonte.

None of them are genius man. But some are braver than others.
I would greatly appreciate Messrs Hughes and Tipsters thoughts on Kevin Blakes article posted by AndyRAC. They appear to be at the top end and well among the “brainwashed” smart arses.
Saying “times have changed” will not suffice.

“To me, it’s like hiring a top plumber to sort out your boiler then trying to tell the plumber what to do.”
Its a decent comparison in fairness. If you hire a plumber you’d be surprised by how useless they, but that Gas Cert they have, typed at a college by some lass checking her nails, means you need to hover to advise and pay these muppets in order to cover your insurance. A right racket.
I bet the same is more than prevalent in racing. A few upper class twits tell us how hard it is to get an animal built to run fast, to run fast. And everyone swallows they have a touch of genius.
I thought and hoped that Martin Pipe sacked all that shite off years ago.

Can’t fault you for that Senor Davies. My heavy losing AP bet on Hawk Wing for the Guineas two decades ago still has me convinced he was a much better miler than Rock Of Gibralter, despite his numerous reversals. And I’m overly proective of his superb Lockinge run. Money talks to us all.
And I hope its not really a pile-on. More of a collection of concerned lovers of the sport, rather than a pile-on about one race.
Kevin Blake articulated my concerns far better, and in a more balanced way, than I was capable of. I’m highly impressed with his piece.
GT – if the best reason you have for agreeing that skipping Punchestown is that Henman Hill will not die in the race, I think you are clutching at more straws than Alex Higgins. Come on man.
“Live horses have a 100% record in the CH.” They certainly do not like.

Great article. Makes me feel like a Henderson-type Cowardly Lion for merely suggesting getting rid of the Turners (or whatever its called next year) chase and changing ‘The Artist Formerly Known as the Four Miler’ back to four miles.

“But then I like the fact I can completely disagree with TTC without either of us behaving as if we’re right and the other fella is wrong because we operate under the abject delusion we’re the smarter one.”
Aye. I think you are smarter than me actually, but you happen to be incorrect on this occasion in my opinion. Blinded by your AP millions you are looking to collect off Henman Hill in a years time.

Its like some kind of crazy paradox. Its never been easier for the big boys to win a race at ‘The Fez (vomit)’, yet it seems to increase in importance every year despite the disdurbing raft of odds-on favourites and tiny fields. Its becoming utterly tedious.
There will reach a tipping point. There has to. A lot of the races at Cheltenham have already lost ‘must-see’ status and are worse than the average sub-standard weekend fare.

Excellent thread this. Fully agree with everyone getting well and truly stuck in to each other.
CAS its not all about this isolated incident. It just raises all the other clucking behaviour back to the surface. Henderson is good for a Cheltenham winner, but I remain of the opinion that he is bad, and dangerous, for the sport. He isn’t the only one by any means, but I totally agree with Kevin Blake. Jumps Racing is on very dangerous ground, they are the top target of racing to the sob-sister modern generation and are doing absolutely nothing to cater to their enthusiastic core fans.
Apart from casually keeping this intrinsic connection with an completely illegal bloodsport, which should be confined to history. There was a race called ‘The Foxhunters’ ran in 2022 at the flagship Grand National meeting for gods sake. These people are as stupid as they are stubborn and greedy.

“Really good argument IMO from TTC but…”
Just to clarify Ian, I had really just copied and pasted a couple of paragraphs from Kevin Blakes superlative (IMO) opinion piece posted by AndyRAC. I’d urge everyone to give it a read in full, I agreed with every single word.

“Kevin Blake on where it’s all gone wrong.”
A fantastic piece that. Agreed with every single word. The below two paragraphs could have been written specifically about a few sheep on here.
“We still see the occasional glorious exceptions to what has become the tedious norm, such as Coneygree winning the Gold Cup and Thistlecrack winning the King George VI Chase on what were just their fourth starts over fences as novice chasers. However, such adventure is now more likely to be criticised as being needlessly reckless by vocal sections of the racing public that have been gaslighted and brainwashed by modern campaigning into believing a highly conservative approach is the necessary and best way to maximise National Hunt horses.
It has also become worryingly more common for welfare to be cited as a justification for not running horses in circumstances their trainer feels might not be perfect, with Nicky Henderson having taken that route on a number of high profile occasions in recent times . When trainers as respected as Henderson take such an obviously dangerous route with their commentary, it is inevitable that followers of racing will take it on board and parrot it. Is the natural conclusion of such a narrative going to be that running a horse in anything other than perfect conditions is considered putting the horse’s welfare at risk? If so, National Hunt racing really is in trouble.”

What a load of bollocks. Presumably the police are part of “the far left” as they issued the FPN. People fuming about having their lives put on hold whilst these hypocrites lived it up, more of these pesky “far left” folk.
I’m not part of this supposed military “far left” and I reckon its disgraceful. BigG is absolutely correct – “He lied in Parliament and was subsequently fined by the police. These are resigning issues. None of the rest matters.”

CAS makes a persuasive arguement, but this is hardly a backlash from an isolated incident.
GT makes an absolutely laughable rationale. Its a good decision as CH could have died so its a big positive for the 2023 Champion. How you post such nonsense whilst simultaneously preaching about peoples lack of “intelligent debate” from a soap box strapped to a very high horse, shows some ego and lack of self awareness.
‘The Hill’ isn’t bloody catching on here btw. This thread contains a collection of things liable to make me projectile vomit on my laptop. “Nicky”. “Hendo”. “TRF’ers”. “The Hill”. Horrendous patter!

Dunno really. All these whingers complaining about not being able to attend their childrens / parents death beds, while poor old Boris and company were larging it at a raft of illegal parties. “Fluff” as the silver-spoon arsehole Rees-Mogg stated.

“I can understand fear of losing in top-level flat racing, where it might affect stud values, but not in NH racing. Arkle, Night Nurse, Dessie, Monksfield all lost sometimes and it didn’t affect their reputations”
A naive opinion. This is an ingenious move from Nancy Henderson and will somehow improve this horses chance for a hurdle race taking place in 11 months. I read it on here.
