Godsmejudge @ 16/1 brings up the double this year for Grand National Race.

Winners of both Aintree and Scottish Grand National tipped on my site. :-)

Only English and Scottish Jim, what happened to the Welsh?

    Well done.

Hehe, I only launched the site in mid-February so missed out on the Welsh National this year :-)

Didn’t bother with the Irish as I was too busy filling the site with content for the English. Will try all 4 next season.

    My 3 picks are now:

    Godsmejudge 16/1 – £5 each-way

Rigadin De Beauchene 28/1 – £5 each way

    Rebeccas Choice 28/1 – £5 each-way

Did have King Fontaine but not running. Just a bit of fun really tried to go for bigger odds value but think the ground has gone against a couple of them.

Anyone feeling Lion Na Bearnai for this? Still listed in the race and at 25/1 that looks big if he’s fit?

Latest article I could find about him running or not:

Rebeccas Choice in to 20/1 and blued up on every bookmaker, still good value at 20s though methinks, but 28s was huge!!

Big Occasion in to 8s today from 14/1, the value’s gone on that one now.

Rigadin De Beauchene in from 28 to 20s, that was a decent price also, apart from one dodgy run he’s had a very good season.

I’ve written up a preview of the Scottish National, just little snippets on each horse but maybe it will help someone:-

I keep looking for reasons Quel Esprit should be a 50/1 shot and can’t find any.

He’s a Grade 1 winner, and is entitled to still be improving over fences after just 9 Chases (he’s won 4 of those). He seems to have been around for a while but is only 9.

He raced with real enthusiasm in the Irish Hennessy last time, jumping for fun in a lovely rhythm till be blew up badly. I’m no breeding student but a friend who specialises in dosage stats says he has a good chance of staying the trip. His trainer thinks he’s a stayer.

He’s well capable of taking a prominent position early which should help keep him out of trouble and his jumping, touch wood, looks as if it will stand him in good stead over these fences.

He has a strong element of class (lacking in most of the field bar the aging top weight) and that rhythm he can drum up can be vital at Aintree for conserving energy . . . if he stays I can see nothing with a better chance and at the price I’m happy to gamble on his stamina.

He has just moved above Join Together to hit the top of my list driven up there by superb value :)

Agree totally about Quel Esprit, I like the look of him and great value at the odds, getting a lot of horse at 50-1.

Also Lion Na Bearnai is out.

    Is that true SJ?
Looks like Lion Na Bearnai is being shortened in the market. 50/1 with a non-runner-no-bet concession looks tempting.

Sorry I stand corrected, he’s not out, last I read was he’s not fully fit and the owners have said he’s 50-50 to make it.

Romanesco (Dont know if will get in with lots that need to come out)
Liked the Kim Muir run but as an 8yr old maybe 1 year too soon?

Lion Na Bearnai – fits the profile to do well.

Beau, in case you’re planning a bet shortly, Romanesco is entered up at Fairyhouse on Mondays, and Lion Na Bearnai is only 50/50 to be fit.

Also Lion Na Bearnai is out.

Yeh I quite fancied Romanesco if he made it into the National but it was looking iffy so can’t blame them taking up something else.

I don’t like the advert to be honest, but I can see how it might appeal to the general public. The more people that still watch the race the better, I hope the viewing figures don’t go down a lot for it being on Channel 4 instead. Will probably still be fine.

These machine are really bad, I used to work in a bookies and saw people spunking hundreds on these. Just all feels slightly immoral, agree though about things like a benefits card where you can only buy essentials with it, might go some way to controlling gambling in poorer areas.

I really like the look of Balthazar King.

Disappointed that Tofino Bay has pulled out as I fancied him and BK as a couple of half-decent shouts at around 33/1.

Teaforthree certainly looks to have the stamina for it based on his Welsh National run and Cheltenham win, I’ll forgive him some of his other showings – I think they’ll have him right for the National so he’s my pick.
