I make my own speed ratings, and agree the official going bears very little resemblance to the actual going that I find after racing has finished when I work out my going correction for my ratings.

Although this is not ideal I haven’t found a great deal of difference in my Speed Ratings due to the going. I seem to find that a horse running a particular rating on Standard going runs a very similar rating on Fast or Slow going.

Just as well, as there is no way of knowing beforehand what the actual going is.
