    Good morning
Just a tentative toe in the water today

In the marathon chase I like the look of the 7YO
    Shaking Hands 3.30 Ex
Will need to improve a fair bit to take this.

    Weekend Results

    Saturday
    Joncol 3rd @ 13/8

    Sunday
    Bakbencher Won 10/3 king :D

Good result today but not so pleased with Saturdays selection.

This has been a very strange year with the early snow. Many trainers will have to get their horses sharpened up for Cheltenham this month. Wouldn’t be surprised if there were quite a few shock results at the Festival.

BAKBENSCHER Trainer thinks he is better R/H so should suit. At Cheltenham LTO jumping put to the test and ground G/S. Today 3M on very soft ground. Was injured and recovered from a fractured near-fore cannonbone Will be interesting to watch this graduation chase as Nichols has entered improving type which is entered in the RSA and the Jewson Novices.
Please note.Bensalem would have been first choice for this race but Alan King did stress he was far from certain.
Backbencher I give this a chance to redeem itself.

    2.10 Wetherby
LEASE LEND. 5th @ 4/1 Big run LTO and could improve further now upped in trip. Plenty of pace on. There’s a few in here that might pop up when unexpected so not a foregone conclusion. Will have an eye on mine and the other on Jonjo’s horse amongst others.

    3.35 Sandown
BEAT THE BOYS  2nd @ 12/1 Nothing stands out so going EW with this one

    3.10 FFos Las
BLAZING BAILEY  won @ 9/2 Handicap mark increased so will need to be at best. Ground ok, but difficult task

    Evening all
After my holidays I’m definately going to subscibe to Inform just to save a lot of time on the VDW ratings. Find the site a bit dodgy because at first glance i thought the draw was level with each runner.

    Hi Onefurlongout
In answer to your question. I tend to pick out parts of VDW that I find interesting and spend time looking at them in detail. Trouble is that the parts I look at are not easy to dig out. So I look at modern day examples and see if the same applies today as it did all those years ago.
From my initial findings I would say nothing has changed.
I havnt been betting recently, instead I’ve been buying and selling and taking a profit.
I was tempted to have a forecast on Shevchenko and Perfect Star, but I refrained from doing so!!!!!

Maybe there are a few things in VDW methodology that we are looking at, but reading wrongly. It could be that there are other answers to sentances that VDW wrote but didnt elaborate on. Who knows what we might find if we keep looking? I for one will keep digging.
One person said that VDW put up a lot of examples and that there was a common thread running through them if you could find it?

    Hi Dave Jay
Yes the software is free, but you have to put in your own data. Downloads are available, but will cost. I have just started using it so cant comment on how its long term performance has done. I was hoping someone would have some recorded results. It reminds me of basic VDW imputs so I will be looking at it in hope that in the long term it could save me a lot of time.
