Hi kenny,
Was pklanning to try something similar to this with football but think racing is a lot safer as the odds on losers will always occur. The best thing about it is the losing runs i.e. when the horses are actually winning will tend to be shorter than losing runs betting large odds horses to win.
I notice for example on sunday you omitted two short price odds on winners in the first two jump races sunday. Do you pick the odds on nags to take on. If i do something similar i will try it picking odds on horses to take on selectively.
Although if my betting on odds on horses is anything to go by i will somehow pick more winners that my fair share.
i belief it is approximately 50% of odds on horses lose so that in its own is in your favour.
Thanks.
He says as his only bet of the day is a 16-1 neck second Archers Road. Might give myself a break.
I used to work for one of the big three and would get so angry with my manager when she played the hard line with theses sleeper bets. I remember telling a regular his bet was too late once and he would get his money back which he did. However we did have the power to change any bets which were acceptably delayed at our discretion, therefore paying out the full winnings. This happens more often than you would think, however its usually lazy sods or sneaky rats that wait for the start especially in short races then place a bet in this case i dont think they should be paid for winners. Its when the innocent punter gets done that it becomes a shame. If someones bet is too late they should be told instantly simply to avoid any discrepancies, a computer system would not work though as sometimes we used to take late bets if the situation was our fault for instance a large que and lack of staff.
1. Denman
2. Kauto Star
3. Our Vic
4. Tidal Bay
5. BinocularThats really decent that they let you go and meet her. Fairplay for getting in contact with them and well done to them for being so kind. Great pic Gaz.
Got to love Russian Rythm
Im 22 and was working part time in laddies as a student for a few years and have a few not so much hardluck stories but entertaining none the less.
1. A chap i had never seen came to the shop and placed a large bet on a horse called Salute in a staying handicap at sandown(June 2006). After getting clearance to allow the bet at 25s i believe, being a skinto student i fancied my chance of lining my pockets. Needless to say I bottled it when arriving at the local coral and included it in smallish lucky 15s, luckily i had two other winners and made another to keep the booze flowing. The other chap cleaned up. Fairplay to him. (I hasten to add the times that strangers appear in betting shops placing large sums on horses is rather common and most lose, this is the reason for my bottling)Sandown bing close to guildford i assume he was from the stable.
2. Feltham Chase 2004, me and a good friend both took to different horses in a highly competitive field. I L’ami and he Your a gassman. After leaving the local in anticipation my friend suggested that L’ami was a shoddy jumper and would struggle in a tightly contested race, i in turn responded with a "He will probably fall and bring yours down" obviously joking and worried for my bet after my pals negative spin. Sure enough L’ami takes a fall and brings your a gassman to ground. I turn to see my mate the otherside of the bookies just eyeballing me as if ive killed his mum. Obviously there was no laughter at first but once the horses are announced safe and we are back in the pub dizzle humour prevails as we toast to one of our favourite horses little Magern.
3. I used to go to my local bookies when i was 17 all the time and on my 18th birthday nipped in to have a bet before the real celebrations. The local constable popped to say hello to the manager and as i had just placed my bet proceeded to ID me. As i explained it was my 18th he turnt to the manager and repeated it. The manager then gave me a "thats close ive been serving him for ages look". I am so glad i didnt get him in trouble. That was the only time i have ever seen a copper in the bookies, except when chasing two chinese fraudsters who attempted to hide a handful of nicked credit cards(different tale). Dont understand why the age limit is 18!
Almost as good as Blood Money, sired by Dracula.
Love it when a bit of thinking goes into the name.
Surprised you waste your time watching the morning line anyway. Its a glorified excuse for a bit of an arse licking to anyone in the game. They rarely give a damning opinion when its deserved. They always praise jockeys for a good ride on should be winning horses. No one ever gives the opinion that there horse has very little chance even if its the case. If anything its a dangerous show to watch, potentially swaying you from your usually better more thought out opinions on a race.
Flat in no particular order
Ryan Moore(ultra reliable always gives his all)
Kieron Fallon(best drive sometimes doesnt give his all)
Kerrin Mcevoy(very similar to Ryan Moore)
Joe Fanning(best frontrunning pace reader)Jumps
Ruby Walsh(say no more)
AP Mccoy(same again)
Sam Thomas(ridiculously similar to Ruby Walsh)
Tony Dobbin(personal opinion is there is no one better over fences)Wouldnt Back em now but here goes:
CH: Osana (just went a touch too fast and fought of challengers all over the place without a doubt classier than katchit)
CC: Master Minded (formidable)
WH: Kasbah Bliss ( Young and ran a blinder)
GC: Denman ( More formidable than master minded)Wouldnt back anything yet though.
Glad to see im not the only one interested in Rio Riva. Has an excellent record fresh too.
Im thinking that the draw will be biased to the higher numbers. I have been looking that some of the 7 furlong and mile races since the reopen and in fields which have large numbers the highest seem to prosper.
Certainly wont be wading in until i see the draw. I will also wait until the spring mile runs too to get an idea too.- AuthorPosts
