I’m very much a Brown Panther fan but I find it surprising that he’s never run at York before – perhaps there hasn’t been a suitable race for him, but it’s a slight concern. Romsdal always seems to find one too good although a return to this trip will be in his favour. Times Up could belie his odds as he loves the course but doesn’t usually win FTO. Snow Sky is my idea of the winner as he isn’t fully exposed over this trip and will appreciate the drying ground. Good luck with your bets.

Interesting quote from O’Brien regarding Ol Man River today:

“Ol’ Man River disappointed in the Guineas, but maybe he wasn’t ready mentally and it was probably the wrong thing to run him.

“A mile and a quarter on nice ground – we’ll learn a lot more about him. Joseph (O’Brien) knew it was his first run of the season and wasn’t going to give him a hard time. Hopefully he’ll run well.”

Might see a different horse tomorrow, but I’m still not convinced he will bounce back.

That said, I am willing to give JFK another chance, the ground and the race in the Ballysax didn’t play to his strengths so I feel he can redeem himself in more suitable conditions in the Dante – Bertie Le Belge paid a compliment to the John Deere form yesterday so I’m hoping for a good run.

It’s interesting that both of those Cumani horses share the same owner Jon Kelly, I wonder if he will hop tail it to Newmarket following Salisbury! His other runner Optima Petamus runs in a race where Cumani has historically done well too, so perhaps a treble is on the cards…

I recall in Roger Varian’s stable tour last year that Talmada was highly rated, she looks a galloping sort so York may suit her more than Newmarket – could go to Ascot if she shows up well tomorrow. After winning with Ambivalent last year you wouldn’t bet against her. Bragging looks a smart type but the others don’t concern me that much. Buick an interesting booking also.

I don’t think I could back Ol Man River with any confidence following his run in the Guineas, I’m more inclined to side with JFK who clearly hated the soft ground at leopardstown last time. His full brother Tapestry seems better on faster going and I’m hoping the track will play to his strengths also.

In the maiden I’ve heard Blue Humor is decent, his brother Shumoos was a speedy type and the owners tend to like winners at York.

    Good luck with your bets.
