Best of luck with the dissertation Emily, will you be attempting to determine a control to measure the effect of social media on attendance against ?
Presumably there will be a relationship between the standard of meeting (champions weekend) and the effect of social media combined with other sources (print / radio / youtube / television) resulting in increased public interaction / attendance. Any data Ascot / Newmarket could provide might be worth looking into considering british champions weekend has been creating video content throughout the year for their events that should be easy to measure public interaction with, any snapchat data should also be easy for them to gather viewer figures / public interaction from

Not the kindest front page from the RP today.

All journalists have the same information to draw from but Richard Forristal’s piece is the clearest interpretation of Fallon’s legacy / charachter I’ve read in the last day or so

Another way of asking this question might be, ”Why has national hunt / steeplechase / hurdle racing generated significantly less betting interest throughout the world in comparison to flat racing”

In the mean time, lets admire Oli Bells manicured hair….and nick lucks…..whatever nick luck has….and the dreamy affectionate betting analysis from…a betting specialist….aka somebody payed borderline minimum wage to discuss…fixed odds bett….fantastic days racing and what a story that would be for th…

Every no. of years there is a topic brought up about terrestrial coverage…the problem in 2016 with this is (if you are under 35 years of age) the days of not only terrestrial, but all television coverage, in all sports is over or very close to being over.

Todays non viewers have an equal opportunity not to view on Ch4 as they will have on ITV, unless the dynamic of the racing, training and betting market can be communicated clearly and objectively what incentive will they have to become an interested viewer on ITV?

Jeremy Kyle a good call Patriot, geoff banks on one seat, barney curley on the other…the drama of a lie detector to find ”the truth”

ITV 4 eh? pretty classy move…

”Racing” media do a good job of circle self gratification in general, a move to the broadcasting outer Hebrides will possibly be a positive step, the less people who can be affected by their view on the greatest sport in the world the better!

I think a trainer is entitled to use that as a reason for not being happy with a run, it is not necessarily factually correct but can it be disproven unless you are willing to engage in a detailed analysis of its weight, training regime, energy output in previous race, going and energy output in todays race etc etc…?

As an aside, and a bit of a cheap shot maybe, but it could be argued looking at the daily fixture list in Britain that a lot of races come too soon for the competitors, i.e why are they being run at all? Particularly on Saturdays the volume of racing is questionable

”Those who do not know how to use require Timeform to make a profit will always blame question Timeform rather than themselves.”

This is a content provider no different to the Thorograph / Brisnet / Equibase etc, PP currently use RP comments on their current website, Timeform would be an obvious substitute if the content is now free to them…another revenue stream potentially gone for the RP

If Breon Corcoran put his PP hat on and decided to shoot the good ship timeform up into the sky it would have minimal impact on horse racing – If alone for the naming of the company, which is misleading. If you are going to use the words time and form in your name I would expect a detailed presentation of racehorse running times in their raw format, an analysis of moisture content, pore water pressure of the soil etc (as a by the way if nothing else in regard to soil mechanics on the day to support the strength of validity of the going the time is derived from), consideration of the topography of racecourse landscape in analysing said times, detailed physiological analysis of the horses running by diagram and stride pattern analysis, jockey and trainer analyis etc etc…. maybe I am grossly wrong in my previous reading of timeforms work but Ive never been left with a feeling what they do is anything other than pseudo scientific ”timefigures” that are presented by guys with degrees in english literature

If the RP are being charged more for using the RUK & ATR video content going forward what will the future relationship be with the sporting life / bet365 / jockey club sites offering the equivalent video content free of charge?

Has anybody experience of the RUK.com video archive accessed through online subscription to the channel and what feedback do you have? (ease of navigation, quality, buffering speed, search, access to all historical video through racecard etc) For 28 EUR / 20 GBP (336 EUR / 240 GBP per yr) it is not practical solution for everyone but is an option if a high volume of content is watched and RUK offer quality (RP per yr circa 260 EUR / 180 GBP)

There appears to be a 25% reduction in next yrs membership for high video content users, considering there is no access to the daily newspaper on the site and the general racing data is good but inextricably linked to video content through which it is derived it could be suggested that 25% is an economical estimate for the value the content added.
