Loved this era but Horage always played the villain in my world after beating Brondesbury (anyone else have weird heroes and villains horse-wise?).
I was only 9 but Brondesbury was one of the first horses who excited me. I have vague recollections of being at Sandown for Brondesbury’s comeback in the Temple Stakes as a three year old.

Completely irrelevant and a red herring to bring up five furlong races, surely the six on the flat rule, covering five furlongs to two miles five furlongs, is for the benefit of simplicity as would you really be upset if races below one mile were only allowed three or four smacks. All flat jockeys know they have six and jump’s seven.
Take away the rider’s percentage of the prize money and keep the lengthy bans and they may learn.

Hi apracing, thank you I have a complete mind block on that fact and have been corrected in conversation many times, why I always think it is Fakenham I don’t know, I always thought Fakenham would suit him so maybe that is it.
I arrived after Popsi’s Joy had retired but he was still there and was kept in a field with another Cesarewitch winner Ocean King, I learned to ride on them both and they both lived to a ripe old age very happily together.
My second in the ‘My Favourite Horses’series. This one a bit long, self indulgent and definitely not as accessible as the first but he was MY favourite horse of all time.

2.10 Market Rasen – Not a Bother BoySlippery road for racing if we lose coverage and end up off of the 4 main stations, even C5 would be a poor reserve option. Racing needs to keep itself in the public eye otherwise we become a real minority sport (even more than now).
