Spencer seems too laid back sometimes. He always thinks he’s riding Nijinsky! Mind you Fallon’s ride on Scottish Stage wasn’t too clever. I managed to back a few winners at Ascot but I had several 2nds that I think should have won with a more enterprising ride.

It’s interesting that when the rules were changed 2 or 3 years ago the bookies over here started paying out "first past the post." Nowadays no horse ever loses the race in the stewards room.<br>I’m only surprised that Micky Jo didn’t punch Fallon on the nose!

I will never forgive them for stealing our goalposts in ’77. We even gave them back the Stone of Scone or was it the Scone of Stone? They just love moaning, it’s something to do with living in a country where the thistles grow waist high and trousers haven’t been invented. (Blackadder, not me!)

As a newcomer to the syndicate this year I only met Craig once on the first stable visit in February but he made us feel welcome even though it was a cold and misty morning. Unfortunately circumstances have conspired against me to get to any other visits or indeed to Lingfield for Tajree’s debut.<br>I think a dedicated race would be a very good idea and at the risk of using a cliche "count me in". Either venue wouldn’t be a problem.<br>

If Ollie Magern is anywhere near his best, Beef Or Salmon would be A over T by the third. That is if Beef Or  Salmon decides he wants to race anyhow, I don’t think he’s interested any more.

Interesting that the subject of high volume betting has arisen. I’ve been trying this on Betfair place markets recently; basically 3 in each race at odds above evens to small stakes. Too early to draw any real conclusions yet, but losing days tend to be small and winning days are occasionally quite high. I also have difficulty keeping track of which horses I have backed, so I can’t tell whether particular race types etc are more profitable.

Incidentally someone earlier mentioned Stewart Simpsons book "Always Back Winners" I do have a copy & I was wondering if it was worth putting it on Ebay?

I did back the winner and I’m of the opinion that if Thornton was as good as Murtagh at riding a finish My Way De Solzen would have won by 2 lengths.
