AP has learnt now how to handle Binocular now and will have the pace of the race worked out to perfection. Nothing else in the race is remotely as good a hurdler as Bin and that gives him 16l. Make no mistake, this is a class champion hurdler. You can try and get him beat as much as you like,he will prevail

I’m not trying to get him beat, I’m looking for some value. I’d rather take just over 11/2 Sentry Duty to come third than 11/8 Binny to win.

And there’s always that tempting exacta to go for……

Does sentry duty act on the track ? he ran no race last year ,i got my doubts !

I would find it hard to believe that Cousin Vinnys finish in a competition paced 2 mile bumper would have more speed than for example, Red Moloney’s very good finishes over 10-13furlongs on the flat, often in slow paced events. If he has the speed to win this I will be genuinely shocked.

??? the bumper is a flat race ? am i missing something here ? not enough speed ?? 8)

You sure are! If he ran on the flat over 10 to 13 furlongs he would be lucky to get within half a furlong of the likes of Red Monlony or any other decent middle distance flat horse. Those horses do well in 2m hurdles beacause they get a breater every time they jump a hurdle.

You can bet your life the only reason CV runs here is because HF is out. I wouldn’t have 10p on him. I will be shocked if he’s in the first 2 in what is sure to be a fast run race.

Be prepared to eat your words OH GREAT ONE 8)

My idea off the winner here is Couson vinny who i really think could be a cheltenham horse he won the champion bumper last year and has had a troubled prep this year falling last time out

I really feel the track will bring the best out off the horse and should beat these novices as he likes for me he will be rode off the pace and brought swinging off the bridle two out and will win very easily…IMO he either wins very easily or is well below par but i really believe this horse has the class and will beat these lot on his way to much better things at the festival in years to come eg best mate got stuffed in this wen was 2nd till youwillneverwalkalone and we know what that horse achived after that i think this horse has loads off potential and we havent seen the best off him yet and ill take my chances for this fella to start my festival off with a bang

Totaly Agree my friend so many peeps are looking to knock him ,but if is jumping holds up he will win by the same margin as Back To Front ! :D

Interesting comment by Nicky Henderson regarding the World Hurdle…

"I think Petit Robin has the perfect chance of being second to Master Minded in the Two-Mile Champion Chase and Punchestowns has a good chance of being second to Kasbah Bliss in the World Hurdle!"

There’s no doubt in my mind that Kasbah Bliss has achieved more than enough in recent seasons to suggest he’s the one they all have to beat. Both Punchestowns and Big Buck’s must improve to beat him.

His flat from in the summer is solid enough. He beat Barnaby in the Prix Gladiateur – that horse reversed form to land the Prix Du Cadran from Incanto Dream, who had previously won a Group 2 event.

He gave Hills of Arran 8lbs at Haydock and beat Duc De Regniere into third by approx. the same distance as Punchestowns did at Ascot.

Making up the amount of ground he did at Haydock is one thing, to do it in such effortless fashion is just taking the p***. To add insult to injury, he quickly put daylight between himself and the rest in the same manner.

    Very impressive.

I’m always slightly dubious about Ascot form translating to Cheltenham and I don’t think Punchestowns will prove as effective around Prestbury Park.

Both he and Big Buck’s are chasers masquerading as hurdlers, whereas Kasbah Bliss is the epitome of a top class hurdler. He travels, stays, possesses a solid turn of foot and is by far the most fluent hurdler in the field.

The others have something to prove. Kasbah Bliss doesn’t appear to have any chinks in his armour and has, without question, improved since last year.

    Totaly Agree :D

This is just a hunch… but it may affect Denman’s price (if not his chances).
At Kempton it was remarked upon that Denman did not ‘look himself’, he is a liver chestnut and has turned up to at least one previous Festival covered in blotches, so he is not easy to having looking handsome at the best of times.
However, it was noticeable that he was not platted up and this gave him a scruffy and unkempt look at Sunbury, which was factored into his performance retrospectively. My take, FWIW…. was that platting a horse gives it the information that it is about to race and can start a tightening process in the animal, given his heart condition they probably wanted to have the Champ’ as relaxed as possible for as long as possible before the Aon/Levy Board race.
Come Gold Cup day they are likely to revert to their usual preparation and have the horse looking much more toned and groomed than 4 weeks ago. If I am right, this will be seen as a big positive pre race and could move the market in his favour. All conjecture but wouldn’t surprise me.

I saw the way he jumped at Kempton ,that alone says he cant win ! he put down 6 or 7 times ,hes not the same Horse !!

Re Kasbah Bliss…I wonder if M. Doumen has been training him differently in the last 12 months. His improved flat form (winning Group races and competitive in G1s) is an interesting development at his age, suggesting a new approach or regime.
This may not necessarily be a positive however, as a strongly run 24f on the New Course would be a very different test of conditioning. Even the Haydock race (very slow early stages) had the look more of a flat contest in the way they approaced it…it was all straight lines and long uninterrupted runs, it will be a very different test at Prestbury.
Given his imperfect record at the Festival I will pass over, I think.

No Dever this time buddy , just a bunch of handycappers :)

To be honest, i think there are so many horses in this race that you could give ‘EW claims’ to.

    Celestial Halo
    Punjabi
    Osana
    Katchit
    Sublimity
    Snap Tie
    etc…

Fascinating race, and one i am looking forward to.

    Halo – cant win
    Pun – cant win
    osana – possible
    katchit – cant win
    sublimty – cant win
    snap tie – cant win

EW chances ? save your money friend 8)

There are quite a few 5 year olds in the race, but I’m not sure how that compares to previous years; if you rule out the 5 year olds and look at the other statistics it only leaves a few horses with a chance….however, the times they are a changing and maybe 5 year olds will be winning from now on…makes for fascinating stuff, though.

I totaly agree ,maybe it is changing times ,but you got to be worried about the stat ,,i see very few other winners of the race ,osana maybe if the fav dont come up the hill ,?

Aristo – if he’s not 100% then i don’t see much point in running him in a race that contributed to much of his problem in the first place. I was thinking that maybe he should be put away for a crack at the whip next season, but others know more than me with regards to what would be the right thing to do. I guess we’ll find out after the race.

If Denman wins, after the race he did the other day ,i will go in to town naked and demand to be locked up !!!

Many of you ,talk of value , ! value is only good if the horse wins or is placed at a good price ,otherwise its meaningless ! :D
