I start every race evaluation with what I consider to be a short list of horses from which I think the winner should come. There is obviously more to it than that and now the hard work of studying begins. It will probably be Tuesday when we know the state of the ground before a final decision is made. If pressed at the moment I see no reason why Celestial Halo should finish in front of Binocular. I expect Osana to be spot on but as a front runner he could again set it up for a hold up horse. Katchit you have to respect at Cheltenham.
    Mike.

Well mike its starts Tuesday ,time to make your mind up soon ,but i wouldn’t be to fearful of Katchit ,not the same horse as last year ,and even if he was ,he wouldn’t be good enough this year :)

Its a shame there’s so many misinformed or just poor readers of form or both on the forum , i am sure if the put more time and effort in to it they would benefit more, just a thought :P

I am on Big Bucks each way but realistically I don’t anticipate getting anything more than my money back. I mentioned the Flat race only to emphasise the change of pace. He was runner up last year so there are no problems with the track. How do you expect the others to outride him? They are all on hold-up horses and he has much more pace than they have. The ground is the only danger.

It was the other track last year though remember which is a lesser emphasis on stamina.

Haydock is a flat track, the World hurdle will place a lot more emphasis on stamina than on speed.

Kasbah Bliss worthy favourite (I think the market is about right) but I give Punchestowns a very real chance.

Two horse race IMO, forget the rest unless it comes up a real bog in which case Big Bucks who will stay forever should be thrown into the mix.

Kasbah will destroy these handycappers ,cos thats all they are ! have no doubt these two punchestowns and big bucks have been hyped for beating other dead beats ,come thursday you wont hear no more about these two they will go back where they belong on the poor ranks of chasing :D

Getting near to the moment of truth and I fear I’d jinx something for us if I didn’t come on here championing the little fella

Tough season, some patchy work at home… I think he just achieved too much too soon and can’t quite cope with having nothing left to aim for

He’ll be right there two from home and we’ll see if he still loves the hill

    C’mon Katchit!!!!

The very best of luck, Katchit. It’s all very well us lot talking about the horses we’re going to back but you’re actually living the dream which knocks a few winning bets into a cocked hat any time.

I won’t begrudge the little fella one bit if he proves me wrong and battles up the hill to win on the line.

He wont tuffers truth me :D

I just think hes not the same horse as last year, and even if he was ,he cant win it ,i figure 6 or 7th would be a good run for him this time round if he aint pulled up !

Its probably because the owners/trainers don`t think they had much chjance. For me Quinola des Obeaux looks the winner.

Or they feel that horse will benefit long term by missing what could be an ordeal for them.

As I said then why bother with the entry? The race has not suddenly become more difficult since the initial entry stage. Moore has continually talked his horse up and the first indication any ‘outsider’ had of the horse not running was at the last declaration. To put it kindly his handling of things has left a lot to be desired.

Our decision not to run Lidar was simply because bumpers are about introducing horses to racing – they don’t need a championship race on a

tough course. Why potentially ruin a horse with long term potential for the

sake of a single race? The entry was an option and Alan has made a

And he couldnt win anyway !

    really good call.

Its the form book of eyes + racing post + common sense.

Are you saying that cousin vinny has better form than ainama?

Cousin Vinny’s best form was either his bumper form or when he was still travelling well at the end of an 18f race on soft ground against pandorama? Any sort of form which he has which looks applicable to the supreme novice looks poor IMO.

Ainma has a soft ground win over hebridean which although not rock solid through hebridean, as he was always due to improve with the ground, through intensifier back in fifth looks a decent enough piece of form. But it was how impressively he done it on soft that day, coupled with how he didnt appear to be one bit happy on good at kempton, and his jumping was poor as a result, yet he still ran a stormer for second, that balance of form is what would make him favorite in my form book.

There are a few who will improve as I have mentioned above, but on those trwo pieces of form Ainama should be favorite IMO, as he looks to set the bar.

You amaze me how you read form , but i guess everyone is entitled to their view :D
