After starting this thread complaining about the rain affecting the first week of the county season i find myself thinking it could be the only thing that save Somerset from a thumping

These chinese players are quite some stars, the one playing Ronnie is only 17 and the guy who just beat Doherty looked pretty tasty, give 5 years or so and these kids coming out of china will be taking over. Murphy looked solid those trousers were a little bit flash and Joe Perry made up for my dissapointment with Selby but i did feel a little sorry for Dott im sure he’ll be back next year in a better frame of mind.

I have’nt been following any of the Indian premier league so i cant really say too much, they seem to of attracted alot of world class players and im sure it makes good viewing. how serious are these games?
i see there is talk of an English version being planned with the England and Wales cricket board canvassing the views of players. how would this happen and what affect would it have?

You are probably right Andrew regarding Somerset, Caddick will be missing for at least a couple of weeks and is a blow, but it’s the boys first game in div 1 for a long time and my heart is going to overrule my head. Good news coming off the press was Hildreth has signed a new contract which will keep him at Taunton to at least 2011 providing England dont snap him up and we never see him down here again.

Tell me about it Zamorston, i had already lost with Selby and i thought Ding was going the same way, i would’nt of said it was suppose to be a comfortable passage into the next round because Fu had beaten Ding on the last two meetings between them(i think). so a huge sigh of relief from me when Ding finally won.

It’s becoming very hard to smuggle the cider into Taunton over the past few years, they have loads of overweight sercuity guards on the gates that search your bag on the way in, you cant even bribe these guys not like the good old stewards we use to have.
Lancashire and Somerset tomorrow, it’s going to be a big test for Somerset coming up against the likes of James Anderson, Flintoff, Law, Hodge, Loye and Sajid Mahmood but there’s a good buzz around Somerset at the moment and the 11/8 – 6/4 on offer might be worth a few quid with the draw being a no bet, Somerset’s record this played one won one so im being optimistic while i can be.

I remember when Giles the clown Clarke was Cheif Executive at Somerset and Andrew you have hit the nail right on the head, once he tried to ban me for bringing in two cans of strongbow into the ground, they expect you to cue for ages pay about £3.00 for a pint and if it’s a twenty20 game you miss the first innings. My mother in law bought my stepson a junior membership when Clarke was in charge only to find out that the twenty20 games didnt come included in the membership, money grabbing or what.Charles Darwin to conquer the World

I have a feeling that Hampshire might be heading for the trapdoor this year.
There was talk that Pieterson was going to play today, in the local paper it said he had texted Trescothick saying how much he was looking forward to playing, probably trying to sort out a contract for the Indian pl. I think Hampshire’s big problem this season may well be the non replacement of spinners Warne and Udal but time will tell.

He’s been a legend, was watching highlights of his 10 grade 1’s on attheraces today. A well deserved retirement, it would be great if he could go out with a win.

Im no expert, but since Lough Derg won at Fontwell beating MyWayDeSolzen from a long way back he just has’nt recovered from that superb victory, i understand the prize for the oom is not to be sniffed at and other horses have raced more but L Derg looks and races like a tired horse to me.
