hi all, i wanted to check to see if the font size had now returned to normal for everyone. please let me know if not and we will continue to look into the matter
many thanks
sorry for the delay in fixing this. we’ve fixed it on the test site and will do the same on the live site hopefully in the next day or so. apologies for the inconvenience
Ive created a horse page for Rip Van Winkle. I’ve added his pedigree and some other details along with your picture Badactor
Could anyone provide a short introduction to him?
Here’s the link:
good to hear. thanks
hi ap, thanks for that feedback. are you still experiencing the same problem?
Thanks for feeding back – glad to hear you’ve noticed the improvement.
Working faster than the old version now

…and I’m using IE8

Begun, the browser wars have.

Edit: to add, the control panel doesn’t seem to be working properly – all the text is squashed down one side. I used to have a similar problem with the old site which was solved by running it in compatibility mode but you don’t seem to be able to do that with the new site.
Great to hear you think its quicker.
Regarding the control panel, is there a particular section you’re having problems with or is it all of it? We’ll get on the case asap
Don’t want to speak too soon on this but I think we may be there with the clock issue. It’s been said before I know but fingers crossed we’ve done it. It will be a temporary fix until we move our hosting and then it will be sorted in a more permanent fashion.
Everyone *should* see the correct time for posts now provided you are logged in. If not, please check that your time zone is set to ‘ Western European Time, Greenwich Mean Time’ in your Control Panel (Board preferences > Edit global settings).
If logged out, the time is an hour out because it takes this from the server time, which is not correct. This issue is expected to be fully corrected once the forum is migrated in a few days to our new server.
Hope this makes sense
Could you also distinguish "stickies" at the top of the page from other threads. A bit confusing as to what’s new when you first log in.
this is a top priority task for us once we’ve fixed the speed issues Cavelino. I know it’s a bit annoying at the moment. Please bear with us and we’ll get onto that as soon as we can

I’ve just used the recent topics bit down the righthand side for the first time.
If people are keeping up with a thread and want to see the latest contribution to it , is it possible to be directly taken to the last page of that thread instead of the first?
I suppose the same applies to the Hot Topics.
that’s interesting feedback Gerald and glad to hear you’ve used them for the first time. we’ll definitely consider making a change like this
Hi guys, just checking to see how you’re finding the speed of the site today. We’ve made some changes this morning which seem to have made a big difference. We’ve been testing without and without ads as well and although at first we thought they were the issue it turned out they weren’t the root of the problem so we will be slowly bringing them back in while checking the effect on the speed of the site.
Please let us know how you’re finding the speed of the site now so we can work if what we’ve done has done the trick (or at least made an improvement).
Getting used to the site. Had to get a new password sent, but, alas, when I tried to change my password it wouldn’t work.
cheltboy can you pm me about this so I can try and help you out
That is all well and good – however the site should work on all platforms – why should users be forced to choose a particular browser.
Paul, some of the changes we’ve made this morning are linked to the site’s performance in some versions of IE so hopefully you’ll notice the difference. Please report anymore you’re having though
I have one suggestion though. Can you up the minimum picture size a little so i can upload a half decent picture for my profile once you sort it out. Maybe up the size to about 13kb from the current size of 6kb as there’s plenty of space anyway ?
sure, this is something we can look into Graeme
Unfortunately Corm, the adverts slow the site down considerably, perhaps you might consider running it off donations rather than like this?
as cormack mentioned we are changing the hosting setup next week which should improve the speed of the site. we are also planning to look at optimising the site in other ways to help speed the site up
you should now all find the topic review issue is fixed and the clock *should* at least be closer to what it should be.
please let us know if you’re continuing to have problems though
which site do you think we’ve grabbed a theme from porky?
apologies for the ie6 issues. it’s always hard work making sites work how they should in ie6 – its not a fun browser but we know a few of you are on it so we will work to ensure the site does work well in ie6. is there anything in particular you are experiencing other than on the homepage – if you point us in the direction of the issues we’ll do our best to resolve them as quickly as possible
thanks for the feedback grasshopper.
although it may not seem like it, we have actually made the size and colour of the boxes in the RHS column less prominent following your feedback.
we decided to keep them however because they are very useful for people who arrive on the site having come in from a search engine so might not arrive on the forum homepage or the main homepage. our site analytics suggest that users don’t all navigate the site in the same way and these sections are intended to signpost potential content of interest.
their content is likely to be continued to be reviewed though to ensure we are promoting content of interest, such as article content which was suggested in an earlier post.
we do value the feedback we get from all our users. it is difficult to incorporate all of it though so hope that you understand this.
– Drop the account options in to the navigation bar
– Include a brief introduction to TRF in the right-hand column
– Include a ‘join now’ option in the right-hand column
– Include quicklinks to feature articles in the right-hand column
– Intersperse the right-hand column with adverts as required
– Remove ‘hot forum topics’ etc from the right-hand column altogether
– Remove the homepage altogetherThere’s also an issue with the ‘Topic review’ feature whilst posting.
A good start, but there’s plenty more that needs to be done for me.
This is useful feedback – thanks Equitrack. The articles link is something we’ve already discussed doing and is high on the list.
You should now notice the topic review issue is fixed.
Thanks again for your feedback its very useful
just to let you know we’re currently working on the topic review issue and will also be addressing the profile picture one as well.
thanks for the feedback, its very useful to help us fix it all
