The sky is blue, we all die, Joe will find a way to shoehorn a mention of the Cotswold chase in to a thread about a stayers chase.

I accept the first point shouldn’t have been so general. What I meant was some of the posts on here represent that viewpoint.

Your second point makes no sense. I was responding to views from thia thread directly regarding football, lager, etc

I honestly couldn’t care less what you do in your own time. I was too busy out drinking lager, chanting about football and fighting.

I saw much more of that in your response than Betlarge’s, gman?

Where exactly? Could you enlighten me. I was responding to comments on here.

The classism and arrogance on this forum astounds me at times

I know. Imagine us not wanting to see people get the **** kicked out of them at race-meetings. How stuck-up can you get, eh?

    Mike

Standard response. I never once disagreed with that sentiment. My point was the way people jump to conclusions about certain groups of people is sad to see. Very narrow minded

The classism and arrogance on this forum astounds me at times. I grew up on a council estate, am fully working class, like football, drink lager, admit i have used drugs in the past and I don’t want to fight when I go to the races.

Feelings from this thread to address

Firstly cocaine is and long associated with the higher class, it is rife in the upper social circles so it is not just a football thing

Never seen a fight at a real ale festival- absolute load of nonsense.i have attended maybe 20 in nice areas generally around the New forest and have seen 3 incidents. For comparison I have been a season ticket holder at Portsmouth (a club synonimous with hooligans) for 15 years attending well over 500 games and have been witness to maybe ten actual violent acts.

The damnation of the football crowd completely ignoring the so fact that rugby players and fans are notorious for late night antics and trouble. Look how many rugby players have been in trouble for fighting compared to footballers. Again a kick in the nuts form the “real ale” brigade

Contrary to uneducated belief cocaine does not make you want to fight, if anything it’s the opposite. I guarantee if you put a room full of people drunk in real ale and a room full of people on cocaine and watched both the drinkers would be more likely to fight.

I am not saying there is not an issue with fighting, drugs at racecourses but it is in no way an epidemic and the sheer arrogance of people to blame a particular type of person is disgusting.

    Drops mic..

Absolutely gutted to hear this news. One of the horses that got me in to racing. His gold cup win was relentless and merciless and the sort of performance that usually leaves a mark on a horse. Denman on the other hand just kept putting in huge performances despite other issues. Absolutely loved him. RIP

All about perspectives for me. Fighting at racecourses is nothing new. Epsom for example used to be the organised venue for bare knuckle gypsy fights. He problem these days is social media shines a huge light on a problem. 99% of people would have left ascot on Saturday knowing nothing of the trouble. You have a crowd of tens of thousands and invariably you will have a small minority causing trouble. I have bern racing 50+ times and witnessed maybe 3 minor skirmishes. This isn’t not an epidemic

Interesting Keith Donoghue will get ride back on Tiger Roll going forward. Given the margin of victory I don’t think he would have won yesterday without Davy on board. Thoughts?

Tiger Roll as short as 25/1 for Gold Cup now although still 100 in some places. Congratulations all who were on. And congratulations ginger tipster on taking the L with grace ;-)

I’m probably in the minority but I am not precious about these things. Boodles are investing a significant amount in racing and in reality will they see a commercial return on this- probably not. If they are putting their money down they deserve to have their name on it. Like it was said above nobody knew Boodles sponsored it this year and in reality that’s not fair.

A hybrid of the two names might have worked but could make it even more convoluted.

Ruby for me. The amount of times he always seems to manoeuvre himself to that inside rail coming down the hill and round the corner is staggering.

The ride on footpad to me was flawless. To let your 2 market rivals go that far ahead in a 2 mile race requires nerves of steel. Yes he was on the best horse in the race and often is but he very rarely loses on the best horse in the race.

Cannot actually believe there is 49 pages discussion the terrestrial coverage of our great sport. Channel 4 is gone and ITV is here, we are lucky that racing is probably the sport with the most live coverage of any sport free to air. It is for the masses and if you don’t like it then you have the paid channels. I follow lots of sports and have never known coverage be scrutinised to this degree.

Can’t help thinking Vroum Vroum is showing something serious at home. Had setbacks and injuries and her future and value is in the breeding shed. Literally no reason at all to run her but yet she runs.

Think it’s quite clear the O’Learys have very little interest in owning top hurdlers which rules out champion effort. There end game with every purchase is a staying chaser. This means it will probably be JLT it RSA, history (don cossack) suggests maybe JLT but have a feeling they will want to see him over the extended trips as early as possible so RSA would be my guess
