Thanks, VTC.
Honest thoughts are appreciated :)

You can hear the show, here:
There were some editorial cuts, due to a heated reaction on social media before the show aired.
Constructive feedback/thoughts are welcome.
Thanks,
Zippy
Hi, VTC & Nathan.
I still perv on the threads, just don’t post.
Nice to see the place is as welcoming, as ever.

Did FistofFury ever return?

I don’t really have a banker for the festival, but
The New One
is as near as it gets.
I really think this horse has the best tactical pace of all the runners. If they don’t fanny around and have him near the pace, he can then kick away and I don’t think anything can catch him.
They need to be positive with this horse.
Who knows if MTOY will get up the hill? If Hurricane Fly wins again, he has to be up there with Istabraq. I’ve never really fallen in love with him (perhaps like many punters), but he is a superstar in his own right.
I’m hoping TNO will at least be 3-1/7-2 come the off…all seems skinny at the top of the market at the mo…

Fair play to MTOY – he will always pull hard – even in the Champion, I suspect, though to a lesser degree.
Personally, I think The New One lost it with that jump at the last, MTOY was in trouble. I would definitely prefer The New one (with an aggressive ride) back at Chelters. The way MTOY folded against Champagne Fever is still fresh in the memory…

I still can’t have Nicholls’ horses. The winner did outstay Cue Card and, so fair play to him, but Al Ferof was stuffed back in 3rd, maybe he did not stay? His horses either win because they outclass the oppo, or the one in front falls in a hole. His fav in the Feltham was woeful
Gold Cup is deffo not the race for Cue Card. One Man anyone?
Cue Card for the Ryanair looks a great bet, but trainer still piping up about the Gold Cup.
I respect Conti for the Blue Riband but does any contender stand out?
Dynaste was lifeless, strange, twas positive in the market.

Great race in that punters really have to grow a pair and form an opinion.
It looks tricky, but perhaps after the race the Champion picture will look a lot clearer.
Bottom line is I fancy
The New One
to out battle MTOY if it comes down to that. However, I just think that horse is so versatile and his last run at Cheltenham was more impressive than MTOR. I think the New one will always find a way to win (best tactical pace). one of these horses is gonna look massive at evens!

Hmmm, Cue Card appeared to win totally on merit in the Betfair.
At the time I did not think Dynaste (whom I backed last time) could reverse form …the market is strong with this one (Dynaste) and Cue Card is gonna be 4/1 with Hills Boxing Day AM according to previous poster. (why don’t they just off that price straight a way – damage limitation?)
I can’t have
ANY
Nicholls’ horse at the moment – there was one that ran at Ascot the other day – Cadre Bleu(?) and he was cantering and found little at the end and lost. His horses are not right IMHO.
the best bet is LONG RUN for a place – you can get 11/5 on Betfair as I type.
I’ll either back Dynaste, coz the vibes are good, or Long Run for a place. Not sure

Note of caution, though, Cue Card was weak in the market and won the Betfair Chase well last time, so maybe one should not place so much credence in it

Truly great sportsman and a great bloke. I’m not sure which is harder to achieve.
He always seems to want to win, not just for his vested interests, but also for punters and to bash those fiendish bookies.
Unlike Fallon, who has come across as contemptuous of punters in his interviews, McCoy comes across as the sort of bloke with whom you’d want to share a pint. Not that I drink beer, mine’s a Milkshake (…not a Kirsty).

I got a good telling off, there!
Luckily for me, Marginal Value gave a comprehensive comeback.
OK – I may look as daft as a brush come the St Leger, but sometimes you have to say it as you see it. I just believe this horse will improve loads for a stamina test. He’s hardly stopping over 7 furlongs.
I’ll stock up on double cream ready for my humble pie savaging next year.

Zip
I think the Leger is fab, a much more interesting puzzle than many of the other classics and a truly unique contest.
Zip
Totally concur that this horse needs a trip. As another poster pointed out, he stayed on to hold the 3rd horse.
He really is going to abe a very useful tool over middle distances.
I reckon there is at least group 2/3’s to be won with him and he may end up winning the St Leger.
Lovely stamp of a beast and next year he’s one to back when going 10 furlongs plus.
Zip
lol, Mr P… like I haven’t been there
a thousand times
.

8/1 is definitely a good price IMHO. Deffo a Derby horse, and has always been a looker. Only 6/1 on Betfair as I type.
Wish I had some money on 5/2 for his romp (currently brassic).

I assume this is the one, Marsh?

Yep, good spot – she’s rather decent (says Zippy on the sofa, patting his rolling flab…)

Honestly, how much fun would it be without betting?
For a clearer anwser, perhaps a poll should be put on here:
"Would you still watch horse racing, or go to the races, if no betting was available?"

Well let’s get one of our unlucky’s up then VTC!
I got 4 out of 5 in a L31 today, but the fav (my selection) fell in the penultimate race at Sedgefield.
Let me know when you strike big
