Thanks, didnt know about Brennan voicing those concerns, horse only really caught my attention in the Kim Muir so was only going on a quick scan of the formbook. The way he stayed on that day i’d fancy him to stay but them extra few furlongs on tough ground can nreally sort the men from the boys.

I’m all over Jetstream Jack in the opening Novice hurdle, he’s well regarded in the yard and although he’s 5lb behind Welsh Shadow on official ratings i’m certain he’s a lot better than a 135 animal. The winter was spent riding him to learn how to race and get a mark, went into the Festival with a lovely mark and travelled a dream out the back but couldn’t get into it with all the fallers and trouble in front and was hampered a couple of times and not knocked about to try finish closer. Fully expect him to beat Welsh Shadow who’s showed his hand in my opinion. If JJ doesn’t win i mightn’t be backing any horse in the Scottish Grand National at all

I’d have been all over Golden Chieftain if it wasn’t for Powell Jr deserting him for Royale Knight – who has no chance – and the replacement jock is fecking useless.

If the ground improves (unlikely) I’ll be on A Good Skin who’s trainer is in cracking form and the horse is 3/3 in April, showing improvement each year at spring time.

If the ground stays soft then Milansbar has very few doubts so would be my choice.

Any reason why you think he needs it good? Just wondering because i’m thinking of backing him as the run in the Kim Muir was nice and looks a thorough stayer, has won a point to point and a race on soft so why the doubt? Is Ayr known for being really tacky ground or something or did his class just get him through against inferior animals in those soft wins?

Another one i like is Shotgun Paddy, regularly placed in these staying chases off marks higher than this and has Noel Fehily booked so i’m hoping for a nice run.

I might have a saver on Heathfield, looks like he’s been plotted up for something for a while and although i doubt this was the original plan it might well be the plan now and Martin’s really hitting form after a torrid winner and wants to make the most of it,heck he even let one of his win a maiden hurdle today

Horse has had a lot of issues. Unless he’s the kind of animal that won’t take to retirement there’s no reason to put him back into training. I know a lot less than most on here but i’m guessing a horse that’s had 2 fractured pelvises would be more inclined to pick up another injury and connections wouldn’t forgive themselves if he did get injured again and had to be put to sleep.

You lads in England have it tough, most bookies in Ireland are best odds guaranteed on singles for all British and Irish racing.

Hoping Cue card wins so he goes to Punchestown and we can get a showdown between himself and Don Cossack.

Fully expect him to beat Don Poli or Don slowly as he’s widely known these days but an onsong Djakadam could cause him a lot of problems and i think Taquin De Seuil was out paced in the Ryanair and could run a nice race here for a place.

I have a few in mind at the minute but the only one i’ve backed yet is Boston Bob NRNB at 33/1, Ruby’s already booked for this one time top drawer horse who conveniently came back to form after the weights were released and i think he’s the kind of quirky animal that the fences could bring to life. He’s got Ruby booked already and come the day i’ll be surprised if he’s bigger than 16/1, the once a year punters usually back Ruby and Mc Coy blindly so with no Mc Coy about this boy could well be a bit of a gamble especially he has the kind of name some will be instantly drawn to.

Maybe JP and his men know something we don’t

I still live in hope!!

I’m thinking with all the contacts they have they must be hearing of 10 or 11 horses coming out and hoping that the other few fall by the wayside so he sneaks in.

Another 50 yards and Bless would have nicked it, however happy with 2nd and 3rd from the 4 I backed

Another 45 mile and i don’t think he’d have nicked it personally, 2 contrasting animals, one willing to give it all and won’t hear of defeat whereas the other continually proves he doesn’t have much of a stomach for a battle.

Captain Von Trappe has been prepped for something and hopefully this is it,has only shown his quality in patches but i think he is better than his mark.
Earlier in the season in the Drinmore he really caught my eye, jumped like a seasoned pro and just didn’t have the pace come the business end,he went off the boil a bit after that until his 2nd last run when running an eyecatching race in first time blinkers before running a bit of a stinker on heavy last time but i can forgive that run as things didn’t go his way that day and i don’t think that was his main aim anyway.

I expected him to run in a handicap at the festival but he didn’t go and i suspect this could’ve been the plan for a while and i want to see him handy and using them springs he had in his feet in the Drinmore and have little doubt about him staying the trip having won a point to point and at 40/1 5 places he’ll be my e/w squeak.

Cue Card definitely goes to Punchestown, lets see if Don Cossack dares to turn up and be put in his place.

We’ll get a little fun wager going TAPK? Don Cossack wins you donate to a charity of my choice and Vice Versa?

Now to pick which charity you’re going to be paying to for me

I believe Cue Card would have stayed the Gold Cup trip, settles far better now than he used to.
However, he still has more speed than Don Cossack. Therefore, the fact Cue Card was travelling better 3 out than Don Cossack is only to be expected. Allowing for that – and although I would’ve loved Cue Card to win – it is imo highly probable Don Cossack would’ve won anyway.

This line sums it up perfectly for me,i’m sure most judges in their assessment of how the Gold Cup was likely to pan out prior to the race would say Cue Card will be arriving with Brennan not moving a muscle 2 or 3 fences out and it’d be how he stays afterwards that will decide how close he goes to winning it and i personally have my doubts

After watching the replay another few times i’m even more certain Don Cossack had loads left in the tank and was keeping a bit up his sleeve.

One thing i didn’t mention yet was how bad Don Poli looked coming in after the race,he had a real tough race and was sweating more than any other horse in the race afterwards. I’ve heard plenty of people saying he had no race on other forums and will be worth backing next time. I’d be avoiding for the rest of the season after how he looked to me coming in after the race.

has mouse morris stated that alpha des obeux will definitely go chasing next season??

Yeah a few weeks back he said something along the lines of them giving the horse the rest of this year over hurdles and then next season he’s definitely chasing and should improve for it as he’s a big old fashioned chasing type(or words to that effect)

Racebets and Paddy only two offering at the minute.

Fran, I’m not sure on the numbers but think he covered about 2 million mares over the winter…. :rose:

He’s some goer  I be happy if i get to cover 2 over the winter

2016 Flat Season – Top First Season Sire by Wins

    Harbour Watch 7/2
    Casamento 5/1
    Frankel 5/1
    Bated Breath 9/1
    Power 11/1
    Excelebration 12/1
    Sir Prancealot 14/1

Seems a very big price. Anybody have numbers for how many each have in training? I’d be having a bet if i knew Frankels crop were similar in numbers to the others or not far behind.
