    Hi
There are a couple of methods that i have used myself instead of copy/paste,i have excel 2007 and ie8 so this may be different depending on which version you have.
You can use a web query to import the racecard by going to the data tab and selecting external data from web a box pops up just copy and paste the URL into the address bar and click go remember to press the options button on the right and select disable date recognition otherwise all the weights and odds will change to dates.
Then select the little tick box and a frame will go round the card then press import thats it, the other method i use if i just want the card on a temp basis is to just right click on the card and in the menu will be an option to send to excel but this method puts the data into seperate workbooks.
    Hope this is of help

    Hi all
I have just been reading the thread and found it interesting as i am just starting out with speed handicapping myself and was wondering which was the best way to go with it in regards to creating standard times of my own and compiling the base figures to start with and my idea was to just concentrate on the AW to keep it simple as i have never done it before and also due to work constraints i would be playing catchup all the time.
My first idea was to use the RP Standards but i did notice that winning times can vary between sites for some reason?? ie rp and atr have different winning times for races so that made me think that it would be best to create my own, would i be right in thinking that i need to have times for each different class and distance. I was told that i should take my figures from 4yo+ races and see that this has been mentioned on here as well and any help or guidance would be appreciated as i have been surfing for months to find info on this subject and it has not been a great success, i have seen Actuary mention Beyer & Mordin on a couple of forums and until last night i could not find anything about their books but i see that they have been found on play.com and was wondering if they were worth buying ??.
thanks and please excuse me butting in.

    Hi Carlisle
Thanx for that i will give it a go just downloaded vb 5 or 6 express last night which is free from microsoft, they have got about half a dozen apps that can be used for free without any time trial off back to work next week so will have plenty of time to mess about with it then and i’ve just installed office 2007 and was playing about with the macro recording getting past results off RP and looked at the code and noticed that the index numbers are consecutive where as on SL site they are random, messed it up a couple of time but i will get their in the end. Had a poor week betting wise with my lays but thats got to change as well eventually, if you or anyone else want the site address for that software i will post it up for ya.
    :D

    Hi Carlisle
just wondering what method you use for getting your data of the web ? im a bit of a novice really with excel but have been using web querys just recently after doing it manually for ages, i do know that some people use VB to login and automatically download past results or the days cards off sl and rp but i dont know where to begin with that, i have been on alot of excel forums but as soon as they think what you are after is sports related they ignore you have you had the same experience with this or been lucky enough to find a site thats willing to help with these matters. It saves me alot of work using web querys but still have to copy and paste quite a bit though. :?:
