Re. his style of running – he is clearly versatile as he has been held up fine before and has plenty of time to learn how to settle. Re. how good a guineas it was, well this time last year we were all saying what a weak 3 year old division it was – turned out we were wrong. way too early to say this year too. Won’t know until after Glorious Goodwood.
You’re right Maoriventure, I did find that! Clearly I can’t count. still, a good time given her start, and given that Hanagan said afterwards that she used up nothing in winning the race. She’ll be a 6 – 7 f horse in time, and I hope she’s aimed at Albany rather than Queen Mary.
Apparently Miss Work of Art beat Lily by 5 lengths in a gallop at home. This doesn’t tell the whole story as Lily is extremely tough and needs a proper race to bring out her best but Miss Work of Art is clearly the better at this stage and its rare that Fahey speaks so highly of horses as he does this filly. That said he was geninely suprised at Lily’s acceleration yesterday, as was Hanagan. It wasn’t the strongest renewal but you can’t argue with the way she did it after that start (although they went off too quick which helped her) and the time was only .3 secs below the big sprint handicap later on the card.
