A complete nonsense. How they think that this will get new people to follow racing heavens knows.
It is bad when a selling race at Newmarket tomorrow as a horse rated 73 which would be the joint 5th rated horse at the whole of the Brighton meeting.
I see at last that some people are coming out at last and saying how poor the racing is becoming.
It is becoming dire.I don’t see the inference with Townened at Cheltenham for Lossiemouth and not Doncaster for Gala Maceau as he as never ridden Gala Macaeau she as always been ridden by Mullins.
Maybe maybe not but he would also have a full book of rides at Cheltenham for JP. Surely if Nico is not avaialble he would have first choice in UK. I just sense and maybe I am wrong but given a choice Nicky does not want him riding for him.
Still odd in my opinionSadly that is Irish racing. Wrong horses, doping, drifters running poorly. Nothing said. Some people think its ok and that is the problem with racing not just in Ireland but in the Uk too.
Will, Constitution Hill even run. May sound daft but there were rumours about 10 days that all was not well. I take what Henderson says with a pinch of salt so when he says all is well I tend not to listen.
Also the ground is drying out all the time with no rain forecast in the near future.
Henderson always says his horses come first and if its good ground will he run. Just a thoughtOK thanks for that I didn’t know they had been removed until this week. Yes I was surprised too Cymro when they removed the BOG on price boosts. I have virtually stopped using them now.
In fairness the racing generally is of a very poor standard.I love racing but not at the level it is most weeekdays when most horses are rated below 70. It’s like watching football at premiership at the weekend then midweek being forced to watch Sunday pub level. Turns most people off never mind people who watch the sport. Nobody is going to go to watch dross. If they don’t chnage shortly it will be too late and racing will be doomed. They should learn from history. Putting poor fare on and you will go bust
This is the reply I got from the Jockey Club
Good morning,
Thank you for your e-mail and for taking the time to express your views. The Derby is the greatest Flat race in the world and we will always aim to create a special atmosphere.
The pre-race show was thoroughly tested in advance and both timed and placed with our participants in mind.
However, part of constantly striving to improve any major event is to evaluate and we will take all feedback on board in our planning process for next year.
Basically in my opinion it is the expense to get in coupled with the high food prices and then the racing is of such poor qaulity a lot of the time its like flapping greyhound tracks.
Top quality racing will always get a good crowd but Catterick on a Monday when the racing is of poor quality. There lies the problem. Not just picking on Catterick by the way, it’s just an example, but the vast majority of the midweek action is poor that I seldom look now.
Basically there is to much racing and the majority is poor.Bob Olinger performance was exceptionally poor. Not sure if it was going right handed but never seen to jump particularly well.
Sir Gerhard was another poor perfomance. Could not even hold on for second.I hope he is Ok.
April 21, 2022 at 20:45 in reply to: Five-day Cheltenham Festival by 2024? Looks like it could be coming…. #1595071It is madness, it is all about money sadly.
When you have idiots like Josh Apiafi promoting it and saying it will be good to have the Saturday extra day so familys and kids can go I wonder if the lunatics have taken over the asylum. To think he thinks it would be good for familys with kids to go he must never have been to the Festival and stood there in the stand unable to move because it is so packed.
I have been going for the last 25 years all 3 then 4 days and to be honest when they move it to 5 days then I will stop going. But surely it must be down to the amount of fixtures. There are so many and the quality of weekday racing is poor to say the very least. They must surely cut back on the amount of meetings.
With the gambling review going on, if they bring in the £100 loss per month it will only get worse because people won’t bet and so levy will drop.
Not looking good for racing at the moment which is sadVery worrying I have to say. I have not been affected but if they don’t know whats happened who is to say it won’t happen again.
You are certainly right there Ian
Yes I must admit it has lost its lustre. I have been going for the last 25 years for the 3 and then the 4 days. Prices have risen, it is more crowded than ever imo however slightly better than before the new stand and the prices are becoming extortionate. Maybe I am getting old but the fun seems to have gone out of it. I get sick of drunk people too.
Maybe I am just getting to old. Also the tannoy in the main club stand right where the owners and trainers go or used to go few go now is appaling.
