Roaring Lion and Saxon Warrior started their runs from the same point, but the former has beaten the latter by two and a half lengths. The consensus on Roaring Lion is that he didn’t stay, so I can’t have Saxon Warrior staying that trip. Running him in the Irish Derby might work if it’s a field like last season in which Ballydoyle can dictate the fractions and make it a very slowly run race and turn it into a sprint from home, but that seems unlikely.
Imo, Saxon Warrior goes St James Palace Stakes > Sussex > International > Irish Champion > Champion Stakes.
They went a very fast pace (as per Simon Rowlands), possibly because of Kew Gardens pushing Knight To Behold the whole way. Drew the stamina out of Saxon Warrior, a doubtful stayer, in my opinion. Team tactics have conspired against Saxon Warrior here.
Backed Knight To Behold. I think he’s a big enough price, is bred for the trip and looked impressive LTO.
I’m not convinced Saxon Warrior will stay. I don’t know if I’ll end up laying him or backing something else, but he’s there to be taken on, especially if there are decent E/W terms.
I think personally there’s more conspiracy there Ruby… Ryan must be thinking… Am I being had over here… Is Daddy making sure son is always on the right one?
The impression I got from Aidan’s RUK interview was that they knew full well what they were putting Donnacha on.
Ended up backing Magic Wand, but she did not handle Epsom at all.
Forever Together very impressive though.
LD73 – disagree completely. It was apparent from the break that Cracksman wasn’t at his best today, I thought Dettori gave him a superb ride to get him up. Silvestre De Sousa also gave Salouen a fantastic ride, one of the best losing rides you’ll ever see.
Does Eclipse count?

My (sour) view at the time, having backed Cliffs of Moher, was that the stable contrived to get Lancaster Bomber to win this. Having settled on it a few days, though, my opinion has changed to they were contriving to get Defoe beat and it didn’t matter which one beat him.
Defoe will stay 14 furlongs no issue and isn’t exactly fast, so in my opinion Ballydoyle were simply turning the race into a sprint for home which he would hate and which would suit Lancaster Bomber and Cliffs of Moher. There were undoubtedly team-tactics at play, but Atzeni will be kicking himself for falling for it.
For all of his genius, I would say COM has been campaigned dreadfully by AOB and it wouldn’t surprise me if the horse just wasn’t really up for it anymore.
Lancaster Bomber, gutsy though he is, has been allowed to steal this and might have to go across the pond to find Grade 1 races if he’s to win at the top level again.
Clemmie’s 2yo form appears to have got worse, but the performances on the clock seems to stack up – her Cheveley Park win earned a 118 timefigure and Timeform Rating. She was given a very considerate ride and could easily bounce back for Royal Ascot; there’s still plenty of time for her to come good.
I imagine he would appreciate your vote of confidence in that he’s capable of thinking

My amateurish view on Elarqam was that he was so revved and fit up for Newmarket that he has effectively bounced in this. I wouldn’t be a massive fan of Johnston training these well-bred Classic hopefuls at the best of times, but maybe Johnston might stick to what he knows best and campaign this horse aggressively.
Taken a price of roughly 24s for UNFORTUNATELY on the machine. I think he will be an awful lot shorter once he has made his reappearance in the Sandy Lane, and his trainer was effusive when talking about how well he has wintered.
Yes, I agree. She also holds a Ribblesdale entry which might be more up her trainer’s street.
Roaring Lion AGAIN drifted left today, only not as violently as at Newmarket last season but he drew it out over the final furlong. I would have slight concerns about him going right-handed around Chantilly, but when he’s a confirmed runner for the French Derby he’s a strong favourite.
She looks a bit smart…The beautifully-bred Sun Maiden, who was entered in the Investec Oaks by Sir Michael Stoute, bolts up @salisburyraces

Sun Maiden has just bolted up in a Salisbury maiden. Now 16s for the Oaks.
Mildenburger looks good, and should be even better over this sort of trip. I was surprised he was available at 9/2 so he’ll do for me.
