I haven’t had a lot of contact with Craig as I am a relatively new member, but my deepest sympathy goes out to you and your family, from what I have heard Craig will definitely not be forgotten. So sorry. Matt.
Nice one, always good to get accurate information from other people. For the sake of it I fancy Traverse in the 6:00 at Roscommon this evening, I would normally tip it each way in an E/W double but looking at his probable SP he must be backed to WIN. Did you ever watch Only Fools Buy Horses on the Discovery Channel, if not its well worth buying the DVD. All the best.
The result to me is a non matter, regardless of the final result and whether Horatio would have won is a different mattr.
Thank you Market Man for saving my fingers, I have been a fan of horse racing for about 12 years, there isn’t a lot I don’t know about racing I don’t know, but should I come unstuck would you mind if I contact you?
Remains to be seen whether or not the form will stand up, especially with Dragon Dancer so close to the front.
As systems go, I have seen worse and if you have the time to study all form etc. its worth a try. Thanks for all the replys guys.;)
Am I right in thinking you own this horse?
I wouldn’t be worried by any draw at Lingfield, ther should be alot of pace that side so that should counter the bias. It doesn’t always work like that though as some courses do not give any advantage to ‘poorly’ drawn horses wherever the pace is. Somebody put up a word about the horse on here recently so it will be interesting to see how he runs with a bit of experience under his belt. Good Luck.;)
Anybody who is standing in O’Brien and Fallons corner after what happened I applaud you, anybody doubting eithers integrity and laying the blame at their feet are watching racing for the wrong reasons.
You would be hard pushed to find someone more in love with horses than Aidan and he would never have let him run if he thought his safety was in question. As for Kieren he reacted so fast to pull the horse up as quick as he possibly could to prevent the horse suffering any more pain than he had to, then helped Horatio back to his feet keeping him as calm as possible until medical attention arrived.
Aidan O’ Brien and Kieren Fallon are Professionalism and Compassion defined, nobody is feeling the pain more than them.
Last seasons 2 year olds created quite an impression, what with George Washington, Sir Percy and the much hyped talking-horse Pescatorio among others, however from the time he made his debut my favourite was Horatio, I always new he wanted further than a mile and thought he would take some stopping in the Derby. Arguably very unlucky not to win the Dewhurst on his final 2yo start and its very sad to lose such a talented animal after breaking down in the Epsom showpiece, Sir Percy’s win was overshadowed and some of the gloss had been taken away from his victory, rightly so in my opinion, Sir Percy lives to fight another day and will move on to further glory but Horatio has been taken from us in tragic circumstances, the memory of the Derby of 2006 will be marred by this sad loss to horse racing. Good point mate, it can be expensive buying the Post everyday and I completely agree about the Sun, it is by far my favourite paper for racing and sport in general, the Saturday columns are good too, its simple format is ideal for your everyday punter aswell. I’ll keep an eye on your system too. Cheers mate.
The owner had the right attitude, the Derby is the biggest race a horse can run in,entering right from the beginning wouldn’t have cost a fortune, the jockey was given the instructions to keep the horse out of the way of others therefore not impede their runs at all, and lastly his whole family had a day at Epsom where they watched their horse run in the Blue Riband, Good Luck to him.:)
Artemis, I usually buy the Racing Post for reading form and Trainer/Jockey records, there is a lot more substance there than in the Sun. Thankyou for the reply.
Dolus, the only problem with that is it tends to influence my selection, I agree it is a painstaking process.
My opinion is I don’t think he quite handled the camber up the straight and I reckon he will stay 12f in a truly run race, he was in a good enough position turning in though when you look at where Alexandrova was the day before. I found more questions than answers on Saturday, you could question the form of the race but there is a long time left this season. Hala Bek is the one to take out of the race and must have a live chance in the St. Leger. Horatio Nelson R.I.P.
