Very, very sad news. Thoughts with his young family and his friends.
That is nice piece. RIP Stan Mellor.
No, no magic switch BigG – I’m afraid we’re still at the mercy of our provider, hopefully they have settled things at their end.
Haven’t made the switch yet as developer busy on other projects but we are in a (short) queue so I am hoping we get something this week.
Late to this but here goes…in race order
Dubai Warrior. NAP
Allaho is a a real favourite of mine after seeing him in the flesh at Cheltenham – a lovely horse.
I didn’t write it Sam. We don’t get paid to write it, we get paid (not very much) to post it.
I get that the content isn’t it what some of us would agree with or write ourselves and that bookies ads or links may be unpalatable to some but it is what pays for the site and what keeps it free for everyone to, hopefully, enjoy.
We derive some income to help with the site overheads by running these articles which are provided by third parties.
I do offer to fix them sometimes but they normally want to run them as sent. If I author anything I’ll usually put my name on it. ‘Posted by Admin’ usually means it is a copy/,paste job for someone paying a small fee, presumably for SEO purposes.
Good to see at least some of you can recognise when a ‘Cormack’ isn’t an original!
Racing is already viewed in some quarters as mercenary. Continuing to race in the midst of such a national/global crisis may add to that perception.March 15, 2020 at 19:33 in reply to: Cheltenham 2020 Competition Rules, Selections and Leaderboard #1486268
Well done Euroalien! Great tipping.
Many thanks Nathan and to Big G also, much appreciated.
The time for action was three weeks ago.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta announced as testing positive.
I’d second that Fargo recommendation. Great.
As for Christmas films, It’s A Wonderful Life is fully deserving of its status.
Jim Carrey in The Grinch is excellent, a firm favourite in the Cormack house.
Looking forward to this very much.
The drawback I could see with a klaxon is that anyone (unscrupulous punter, racing anti) could disrupt a race by setting one off, much more easy to do than with flags. Grand National for example.
Flags – Why don’t they use a bloody big red one?
On the jockey bans, the rules are clear and the jockeys have zero excuse for not knowing them. Imagine they’d ignored the flags and careered into an ambulance, or group of people attending stricken horse or jockey. Bans and severity fully justified IMO.
Very sad to see the loss of Houblon. Grand horse, the type I think most of us build affection for through the yearsDecember 7, 2019 at 22:33 in reply to: 2019-20 Saturday Handicap Tipping Comp – Week 11- Becher Chase #1476836
Mine timed after the off there so please ignore. Was on a bus in the Scottish Borders with in/out 3G.
