He reckons… “As long as the trainer told the jockey to ride the horse that way, there’s nothing wrong with it”.
That would be the question that needs answering before all blame goes toward Sean Levey. I cant see why he would go off at that ridiculous pace unless told to do so. It was a bit puzzling at the time as I thought Mustadeem had good enough form to challenge the unknown quantity of the front two without the need to race like that.
Newmarket 140 – Secret Art
Chester 300 – Ballymore Castle (NAP)
Newbury 345 – HawatifYou will also get that screen if you have pop up blocker on. Just for future reference if that happens to anyone.
I was so tempted but after a bad Thurs & Fri on the July course I kept my nose clean. Full Mast was playing up before the start and that’s when I really thought Territories had the best chance.
They went off a furious pace and fair play to Barzalona, he had him at the back and knew they would come back to him. Good shout though Steve! It would be a brave bet to put on Mecca’s Angel but if the ground went soft then 10/1 would be 3/1 in a jiffy. I will look at the weather forecast a week prior to the race and if there is plenty of rain predicted then I could get stuck in. In a way Mecca’s Angel has no value at 10/1 right now but could possibly be great value come race time.
Fair enough, I wouldn’t have highlighted it myself if it weren’t for the same thing happening on the Thursday at Newmarket.
Just a coincidence perhaps.Newmarket 200 – My Dream Boat
Newmarket 345 – Brazen Beau (NAP)
York 325 – First FlightReserve:
Ascot 245 – ArodI listened to the 530 on the radio and from what they were saying Bossy Guest was having serious problems in the first furlong so imagine that did for him there and then. It was frustrating to hear that.
Equally frustrating was seeing Big Orange win the POW as last years winner Cavalryman hinted that it was a track to suit a 14-16 furlong horse.I have to back Lucida tomorrow with the weight she is getting from everyone else, plus the fact she is in good form and likes Newmarket. I think Euro Charline would have been a good each way shot on this stiff mile if she had a run behind her but she missed out at Ascot because of her antics at the stalls.
I also hope there is no excuses either as her last two group 1 races have had reasonable arguments to her failings. In the guineas she was very awkward at the start and that cost her a length or 2 and at Ascot she had to settle behind because she was drawn widest of all.
The top 3 year old fillies are looking really good this year and I can only hope Lucida backs them up.Mahsoob doesn’t look any value at all, stepping up to 12f for the first time and jumping from handicap to group 2 level. I’m not saying he wont win or run a good race but I would be happy to leave him alone.
That Sandahl for Beckett does look good value, but I would be just a little reserved on him due to his 2 races being on rain softened ground and there is some stiff competition in there.
I have been pondering Beckett’s other big priced runner in the POW, Niceofyoutotellme. He keeps running on well from 9-10f in good races and has to be worth another go at 12f. He is in fine form and 18/1 is interesting as long as the 8 runners stay in the race. I haven’t decided yet if this is worth a gamble. The one that has my attention is Bossy Guest in the 530 listed race. I was hoping maybe I could get an each way price but it looks like 3/1 will be about the norm. The track and trip will be sure fire to suit and Mick Channon clearly wants to get this one some black type as he gets Ryan Moore on board to replace Charles Bishop.
What about Treve coming over for another shot in England? Surely connections have nothing to lose with her not being unbeaten and with two arcs behind her.
They weren’t afraid to run her on good to firm ground at Royal Ascot.Wonder if Rishi think’s up all the inane questions himself?
Henry Candy’s face and reply when asked by Rishi how delighted was he for Dane O’Neill, after Limato had just been beaten at Royal Ascot lol. It reminded of the “I’m so happy” clip of Basil in Fawlty Towers.
Well worth a view on C4 OD if you’ve not seen it already.
So True.
I do get a bit annoyed when anyone gets the name of a horse wrong and Tanya is the worst for this. I don’t mean the ones that some people pronounce differently to others, I mean basic names, like when Claire Balding kept calling Society Rock ‘Soviet Rock’. It’s only a small gripe though.
To be fair, a lot of these Saturday’s are so full on with racing that you don’t see much of the presenters anyway with another race coming up within 10 minutes of the last one. It doesn’t quite work for me when its just one meeting they are showing e.g. Derby day or Goodwood festival.
I wonder how Mr. Spencer will play Salt Island today. He is fast and I believe the trip will suit, but I don’t know how they would play him into a 5f race. I would think that there is plenty of pace in the race with Stepper Point running, so we could see Waady and Salt Island waiting for each other to make a move.
Mr. Varian said he would be happy as long as the ground wasn’t soft. I’m thinking either he wants to get a run into his horse even if there is an ease in the ground or that he is confident Battersea can do the business on good to soft.
I’ve given in and backed him anyhow, small stake just for the **** of it.Sandown 200 – Salt Island
Sandown 235 – Sahaafy
Sandown 420 – Aussie Reigns (NAP)Reserves:
Sandown 320 – Black Cherry
Haydock 215 – Miss Marjurie
Haydock 250 – BatterseaDoes anyone listen to William Hill radio?
any races that I have a token on that are not on channel 4 I tend to just listen to the guys on there.I didn’t know that Karaktar was injured half way round in this race, something wrong with the pelvis I read.
Connections are bullish about him and he will be interesting next time out. 33/1 for the arc but I will need to see him again before that.Saying that, the going has changed to soft as the rain gods opened up on the course this afternoon. Haydock doesn’t dry up that quickly so that price may well just go out.
