Dont listen to Cormack15. Shirocco WILL win. ÂÂÂ
Vikingflagship – Do you mean Blaze A Trail ? He ran just three times under rules. He won a bumper in 1987 at Huntington. He then ran over hurdles in 1988 at Uttoxeter and Haydock finishing unplaced on both occasions. He was intially trained by C W Thornton but joined J Glover after his bumper win.
Then again perhaps you mean Blaze The Trail. She was trained by Jean Rene Auray and ran four times on the flat in 2004 finishing unplaced each time.
Silcas Sister is my confident selection.
I promised i would tell you if i had a dream about the national. Well i’ve had one. I dreamt Silver Birch would win. Will the dream come true ? Unlikely if his recent efforts are anything to go by.
Anyway here is my national shortlist in order of preference.
Juveigneur
Sir OJ
Direct Access
Silver Birch ( only included because of the dream !)
Remember Vikingflagship had a dream the night before the World Hurdle that My way de Solsen would win. Funnily enough i had a dream that night that MWDS would win too !
I havent yet had a dream about this years national but if i do have one i will let you all know before the race to avoid aftertiming ! Anyway now that Fondmort is out it will be interesting to see who Mick Fitz rides. Juveigner will definety be on my national shortlist if Fitzy rides. Have you been on betfair Vikingflagship ?? Iris Royal currently 220/1 !
Ghost Riders in The Sky – Johnny Cash
What about Wild Passion ? Second in the 2005 Supreme Novices and a good fourth in this years arkle. Being trained by Noel Meade must be a bit of negative though given his festival record.
War of Attrition, Kicking King and Best Mate all finished second in the Supreme Novices before their Gold Cup victories. So perhaps this years second Straw Bear is a future gold cup winner.
my away de solzan wasnt my first choice but that night before race i had a dream he won!
Thats funny ! I had a dream too Wednesday night that My Way De Solsen would win and he wasn’t my first choice either ! Had a terrific Friday punting wise and had a good Thursday too though Wednesday i had a shocker like just about everybody else ! ÂÂÂ

The Listener will enjoy the ground and stays very well which is important as there will be an emphasis on stamina in todays race. His win on New years day was a commendable effort IMO given he had to give nearly two stone to a decent horse in Napolitain. Would surely have won comfortably at Lingfield last time had he put in a clear round. Also he was impressive when winning at Windsor and Exeter last December. Today’s trip and underfoot conditions will play to his strengths. With a clear round i will be surprised if he doesn’t win. A confident selection. Commercial flyer is obviously well fancied but is he just a hype horse ? I will be surprised if Our Ben is good enough to win.
