Beamazed had fallen once and unseated once in 14 runs as far as I’m aware. I could be wrong on that of course. I don’t know how his trainer felt about him, but otherwise he was a much loved horse, full of life and character and beautiful.
I know Beamazed – Oliver – and I’m absolutely devastated to come in and find out this way. He hadn’t run for ages due to injury.
Now confirmed on the RP. They were both very young.
Sadly, both are on the HRI list.
Apparently this has been known about for some time but has just come to light on here. There’s stuff on Facebook, but I don’t do Facebook.
An Australian girl filmed him but she’d already rescued two and had no money left (I found this out just in the last day or two).
A rep of John Best says he would have bought him back had he known and he sold him in good faith.
I understand he won’t take queries about Deposer though, but I could have that wrong.
But he was sold to Japan, which to me immediately puts them at risk (Exceller, Ferdinand) – although he was slaughtered in Australia. He was last in his last race in March (I think) slaughtered in February. So not much chance given to him.
For me there’s just no excuse when an owner can afford to keep a horse and I’m sure any welfare place would have taken a horse of his stature.
I’m struggling to come to terms with this.Poor Deposer didn’t have a hope though – he was gelded for a start (so no use at stud)and then sold abroad, out of reach. It’s inexcusable when at least some owners can afford to keep a horse it’s whole life and not even notice the cost. I don’t think the video of Deposer standing looking lost and bewildered will ever leave me. It’s truly shameful.
This really is too awful for words. But I can’t understand how, if some-one was there filming it, why on earth didn’t they help him? Do something? It’s beyond my understanding. For $220? I don’t understand why he wasn’t helped.
Owned by the trainers wife I think? Website gives the impression the horses are cared about. So young, it’s just so sad.
Didn’t mean to upset you Reetlass. I probably endow horses with human feelings, which I shouldn’t do. It’s because I get so upset too. He wasn’t a famous horse so his passing goes un-noticed by most, so I suppose I just want to ensure he gets some kind of recognition, which is what this site does. I hope he was loved.
Interview with Mark Usher in the RP today. Looks like Calculating had a possibly cancerous tumour.
It was his first race under rules but he’d run in points. Only placed once, won no money. Maybe he just wasn’t meant to be a racehorse. Whole thing very upsetting.
This was really upsetting – it was a horrible fall and the poor horse tried to get up then realised he couldn’t. He just sat there waiting for some-one to help him. I thought his front leg must be broken but so hoped he would be ok.
Too, too sad. Broke my heart to see his name here. Does anyone know what was wrong with him to cause his so young death?
Does anyone know what happened to these horses? Any of the HRI ones? I only really know if it’s published in the RP or I see it on the racing channels.
Marvellous video of Prophete de Guye on the link. Makes it seem even more sad that he’s died though. Clearly some trainers are very attached to their horses and this comes through clearly on Mr Evans website. Very sad for him and his horse.
This upset me a lot. Poor lad was so young. RP didn’t even mention him in the review of the meeting, just listed him as fatally injured in the results section.
Hi Miss Woodford – I didn’t know this horse but have just been finding out about him because of your posting. Sounds like a horse who so deserved a good retirement and I’m so sorry for your loss. I know he wasn’t yours, but sometimes it hurts as though he was. I feel for you.
Also upsetting to read some of the comments regarding the vet and connections on your second link. I’m hoping the people who’ve commented are wrong.
Best wishes.
