Dear Annual Member,
I am writing to you today to apologise for the delay in starting the season at Brighton, to give an explanation as to the reasons behind this delay, and also to set out what we are proposing to do with regards to compensating you on this issue.
As you may have read, we are currently having issues with areas of the track. These issues revolve around the presence of leather jackets (crane fly larvae) and nematodes, both of which destroy the roots of the grass.
In conjunction with our independent agronomist, we are implementing a robust schedule of works to restore the racing surface to its usual excellent standard and are aiming to resume racing at Brighton on the 29th of May. We will of course update you as the works progress.
As core supporters of the racecourse, we cannot overstate how highly we value the loyalty of our Annual Members, and we of course do not wish you to be financially impacted by this issue. We are therefore proposing to extend your membership to the end of May 2027 and will also pro rata next year’s payments to reflect this extension.
In the meantime, we would like to remind you that your membership also provides access to all 15 other Arena Racing Company racecourses, should you wish to enjoy racing elsewhere. Additionally, your updated 2026 reciprocal list can be found here.
On a personal note, and on behalf of the entire Brighton Racecourse team, I would like to say how sorry we are that this situation has arisen, and assure you that we are doing our utmost to resolve it as soon as possible. Once we are up and running again, I would like to personally invite you all to lunch and will send out invites once we have a date.
I look forward to seeing you all soon.
Regards
Paul
Executive Director
Syndicate horses can be very expensive, Go to the Old Gold website and it will give you a breakdown on each horse. Multiply that by the number of shares.
I know Newland and Insole charge £69 a day, expenses on top. £30,000 a year is about the average it costs to have a horse in training
It is the Joey Ramsden who trained in South Africa
https://x.com/AtTheRaces/status/1977325545873432734Martin Dunne worked for John Butler before setting up on his own.
I don’t think Joey Ramsden is the guy you think he is, I think it is a completely new trainer, his runners tonight are ex Martin Dunne and Laurence MullaneyThe horses ran in the name of the Irish President who was De Valera at that time. They were usually horses that were bred at the National Stud in Kildare so in theory owned by the people of Ireland.
A bit of snow in Ireland doesn’t bring racing to a halt
Another race had only 3 declared so now a 6 race card instead of 7
They do scan your ID
Thanks for posting.
I was there that Easter Monday“It is more than a virus. The horse has a wind problem”
———————–———————————————————————————————-A “wind problem” that nobody has heard connections talk about.
A “wind problem” that’s only come to light when the whole yard is struggling with a bad virus?Constitution Hill has not got a wind problem.
I have a wind problem.
——————————————————————————————————————-I posted the top line on 5th March and the reply was from Gingertipster
There is a thread on the betfair forum which contains the article
The thread is called, has the Betfair Exchange lost its magic touch
He has received an extra two months
Danny also coming over for 2 rides
I think Try my Best was with Vincent
Could have been claimed for £7.200 yesterday
No bid for the winner of the selling handicap at Lingfield this afternoon
As a regular racegoer I totally agree with you. I love the winter meetings at Lingfield that start at 11am.
The 5.00 finish means hitting rush hour traffic on the M25It is also the same with evening meetings with a 6.30 start and a 9.00 finish, means driving home in the dark which as a pensioner I would prefer daylight.
Brighton started at 5.25 yesterday only because they wanted to finish before the football started at 8.00
