I’m sure you can purchase any papers from their website in digital format from years gone by.
I think it was Graham Wylie looking for his money back! On a serious note it is terrible news, Howard is a great character in the game and I hope they catch the culprits asap.
Oh come on!
A horse should be doing his best. His best at that time. O’Brien (as is often the case at this time of year) is in crap form. Think he’s only had one or two wins this season. That info is out there for all to see. Fame And Glory was never going to run "to form". The only thing that counts is whether he was given the opportunity to win. And in my opinion he was. There is absolutely nothing in the rules to say a horse must be 100% fit, or hit with the whip. There’s no point in hitting him, because he was never going to make up that much ground in the final furlong. Might’ve been a bit closer, that’s all.
There is nothing wrong with not being 100% fit, as long as he’s trying to win the race. This was not a non-trier. What possible reason is there for connections not to want F&G to win?
Nothing wrong if Aidan O’Brien comes out and states all this before the race. Instead he repeats the same old line ‘the horse is well in himself, we are very pleased with him’ He’ll say that for every runner all year round.
I don’t think I’m alone in not wanting to see Character Building within an ass’s roar of the places. The new owners have just rubbed salt in the wounds of Jamie Codd with this jockey booking. Codd is the second best rider in the point to point scene in Ireland and I’d prefer him in a strong finish than Nina. The only reason he hasn’t turned pro is he’s probably making more money out of point to point scene than a lot of journey men jockeys in the professional game. Disgusted by the whole episode.
I think Red Marauder deserved to be priced 100/1 much more than Mon Mome. Richard Guest said he was ‘the worst jumper ever to win a national’
He must have made 10 jumping errors in the race and went through rather than over most of the fences. Somehow he just wouldn’t go down. What a horse!
That’s dreadful. He was travelling well at the time of fall. Didn’t realise it was fatal. I thought Henry had the 2 best 2M novice chasers in Ireland this year and but for training Sizing Europe aswell we might have seen An Cathaoir Mor at Cheltenham.

Given the record of Cheltenham winners at the Aintree meeting, I couldn’t share NTD’s confidence for Imperial Commander. He’s a big lay in my book. Apart from the machine that is Big Bucks, I don’t think any of the Cheltenham winners will be doubling up at Aintree.
I can guarantee it’s a token sum and that racing are just grateful for the increased exposure for the sport. In fairness, though I’d say they are putting at least £500K into the production costs on the big day.
The day I trust RTE the weather service is the day I ask Sean Fitzpatrick to look after my money. I do recall them saying at the height of the last cold spell wehad saying that the freeze was supposed to last another 10 days. The whole thing had thawed out the very next day. No I’m betting we race at Fairyhouse next Monday.
Nonsense imperial call, the weather is supposed to improve no end and we are to have a fine Easter. There is no danger to the meeting. Stop scare mongering.
Forgive N’Forget in 1988 Gold Cup. A former Gold Cup winner travelling like he was going to win another one when he broke a leg. Bloody tragic. The trainer Jim Fitzgerald was a legend of a man too.

Does anyone know where I can get a price on Steve Staunton on being the next Celtic manager?
March 26, 2010 at 11:35 in reply to: Tucking into a plateful of Humble Pie after Festival (2010) #285682Didn’t have one winner all Cheltenham but that will change come Punchestown. The biggest disappointment was The Package, I’d backed him at 14s and was counting my money. Still can’t believe he didn’t win. He better go and win the National now.
It was a Cheltenham to forget for even the best tipsters. Apart from Tuesday, Tom Segal didn’t have a sniff thereafter.
Just saw a picture of the Gordon Elliott horse Backstage. He looks like a pony. Hard to imagine him over those big national fences. What’s the smallest horse ever to win a National?
You’re assuming he’s going to go backwards because of his age, an assumption that is poor in it’s entirety, their may be young horses around but they have to reach a massive standard, he may well retain his ability at 11, something we won’t know until he steps on a racecourse again. Monets Garden has run up to his very best this year at 12 years of age. I would say it’s best to see him out on the racecourse next season instead of just guessing that he’ll regress.
Ah Monets Garden, an Irish bred horse I think you’ll find which was what I was saying regarding French bred regressing earlier. Once past our peak, we all get slower human and horse.
