I sent them this message:
“I’m a regular user of your now-renamed ‘compact’ cards but the new version is pretty terrible. Firstly, the font size is tiny – one can hardly read the horse’s names, which seems ridiculous! And secondly a pointless box has been wrapped around each horse, meaning the whole card is even more difficult to glance at. (I seem to remember on a previous update the compact cards had unnecessary lines between each horse, which you fortunately soon removed). Hope this gets amended.”
Which elicited this response:
“Our racecards have been updated in what will provide a more enhanced, streamlined and future-ready interface. These cards lay a foundation for exciting new features as well as putting vital information at the front and centre of your viewing experience.”
I guess if the cards are “enhanced, streamlined and future-ready”, that’s better than being able to actually read them…

KRIS was the greatest miler I’ve ever seen. As he won the Lockinge in 1980, he just about fits the criteria, albeit that 1979 was his imperious season, winning the Sussex, QEII, St James Palace & Waterford Crystal Mile amongst others, generally in devastating fashion. He produced tremendous acceleration at the business end, normally against very smart opposition.
Syndicated post-retirement to stud for a then-eyewatering amount of £4m, he sired some decent crops, including Oaks winners Oh So Sharp and Unite.

Yes, I remember Outlaw Tom running in those four-milers & other Northern staying chases. You must have had such fun with him. The ones at Hexham at that time always seemed to contain a combination of him, Almond Court, Matmata de Tendron and the fantastically-named Esme Rides A Gaine!

What a tremendous race, providing the finish of the week so far!? Shame we lost a couple early on.
If I’ve read his stats correctly, winning jockey – claimer Patrick Wadge – is on a quite staggering run of seven winners from his last 10 rides, all for Lucinda Russell.

We spend all year moaning that the entire season revolves around Cheltenham and then we moan when it doesn’t for one jockey!
Anyway, that was win number 150 of the season for Hughes at a s/r of 20% which seems mighty impressive to me wherever it occurs.

“Why run in the Champion Hurdle when you can’t win it and could ruin your handicap mark?”

There’s no problem with racing 12yos, 13yos, 14yos per se – indeed, these veterans give a great deal of pleasure to jumps fans.
But I do think that connections of such horses in a similar mould as Grand Turina: specific recent injuries, long gaps between runs and clearly in deteriorating form, should at least be questioned as to the appropriate nature of persevering.
No accusations, no blame, just a rational explanation of the horse’s suitability to race from owner & trainer to ease concerns.

BUMP!!
More fun & games in Esher…

Family Business won yesterday at Leicester and shares his name with the horse that landed the infamous Feast of St Raymond Novices’ Chase at Southwell on 23 January 2002.
It was the race where everything fell, was remouted, fell again and after ten-and-a-half minutes for 3m, AP McCoy eventually finished alone on Family Business. No remounts and a void race nowadays of course!
Full shenanigans can be seen here:

This is starting to resemble the David Icke forum. Bunch of punters who still believe Capricorn One was a documentary.

I don’t think anyone objects to decent Irish horses coming over to compete in our top handicaps – they enhance the action. However, when they’re winning bread-and-butter £5k races doing handsprings, I doubt if UK trainers & owners are impressed.
I’m generally not keen on protectionism, but some Irish trainers are taking the mickey. Maybe a blanket 7lb penalty for all overseas runners below graded level would help.

I did think of you Nathan tbh! I also received the “you can stop shielding now” letter. I filed it in the same place as the Jehovah’s Witness missives.
I’m lucky in so much as I can stay at home, many in my situation can’t.

Cheers Ricky. I don’t expect everyone to lock themselves in the basement because of me, but I just think with Omicron, some caution is needed until we actually know what it is.
I look forward to zero restrictions ASAP.

I don’t at the moment unfortunately but I’m high-risk so rational calculations have to be made.
It’s basically a question of odds.

There’s footage online of some crank screaming at fellow passengers on the Tube today for wearing their masks; dribbling on (loudly) that the whole thing’s a conspiracy.
He uses exactly the same terminology as a few contributors to this thread.
