Thank you very much for the information. I take it that it will be easier to travel by train instead of the car because of the Paris traffic.

You can also use Auteuil metro station, it is right outside Auteuil race track, and do’nt forget the buses to Lonchamp are free. I actualy drove there last time i went geting there was’nt to bad, going home was like rush hour on the M25.

Why does the sporting life.com, not show any prize money that has been won previously.

What you need to do is purposly place some big bets after the off on a considerable amount of different horses in a betfred shop. At the end of the day go and get your money back. It’s silly i know but they will not like it and you must stand up to the bully boys. Ladbrokes opperate the same though, i usually am prety good with times but on the odd ocassion i bet just after the off , and the trick is to allways ask if the bet is in time just to save dissapoinment and your money. My point of view is as many people bet around the off time there should be a sign up saying all bets are void after the off has been called. They will not put a sign up though because it affects proffits. A little while back Ladbrokes were offering betting in running at some horse meetings, havent seen it for a while, maybe they got there fingers burnt. Does’nt help though when the cashier is just not interested in the actual betting and does not want to fight your corner because they are more interested in watching sky with the volume on so high you can not here the commentry.I guess if you pay peanuts you get monkeys. Mind you i would imagine that some people would love to get paid to watch tv all day.

I suggest you read the man’s post Paul.

C.R. would you agree that in many of the above cases the sample size is too small to have statistical significance?

    Nice post, may i ask.
How many points must a horse move in the betting market before it is classed as a steamer or a drifter.

    Thank you

Can you pay at the door on the day and is it cheap like the French race tracks or is it best to pre book a seat ticket to insure that i can get in.

    EVERYONE
Thank you for the responce it’s been fantastic.

Adrian, my interest is horse racing and food , and for the other half, the beech with plenty of sunshine. I have never been to the U.S.A. before so im not really sure what to expect, but one thing i have always wanted to try is one of those big massive steaks you see people eating on the television, are they really that big.

I went to Chester once before, my other half backed 5 winners , it would have been 6 winners but i put the money on the wrong horse , by mistake of course  . Went in to the main part of town after racing had a nice meal ( MADE HER PAY AFTER ALL THOSE WINNERS, IT WAS ONLY RIGHT OF COURSE)had a stroll afterwards, never seen so many drunks in all my life, hic hic.

Thanks for replying, looked at BA VA and AA flights for 3 week stay and all are quoting around £450 give or take a couple of pounds. I understand that it is around 15 hours flying time to get there, is that correct. If the journey does take that amount of time, is there much to do on the plane, as i find it difficult to sleep and i will be traveling economy. If i decided to travel, say to New York and then take a internal flight would i be saving much money and would it take much longer. Also would it be worth going self cattering / accomodation, instead of using a hotel, and is there a need to hire a car.

    thank you
    Paul
