It looks as though Sixcor takes his chances tomorrow and will likely be fancied stronger than the tissue currently showing 5/2.

    Significant Handicap movements (7th June)
Runners having an outing before Saturday will be ahead of the handicapper, notwithstanding there will be a penalty incurred. The penalty level will still leave an advantage for the runners listed below.

SIXCOR (GB) having won and also run a good second of late is looking to get ahead of the handicap with a run tomorrow 8th June- 8:50 pm (Overnight) at Hamilton Every Race Live On RacingTV Handicap (5f)

There are others who have been hiked (see list above) but not withstanding Sixcor non are due to run before Saturday which would mean them escaping the weight rise.

Highest riser in the weights Astapor (now goes up 14 lbs). Many had to have a double take as this one won in style at 200/1 ! Beat odds on Parisiac rated at 94. Astapor was rated 43 although this was a novice race and not a handicap.See below that recent win comments.

Made all, alone up the centre, went clear from over 3f out, shaken up over 1f out, ridden and edged left inside final furlong, unchallenged (trainer said, regards the poor performance, the gelding may have appreciated making the running and the drop in trip to 6f on this occasion)

The Covex Kid stands his ground and is due to run tomorrow:
    5:15 Catterick 3 JUN 2022
    7f (7f6y) Racing Again 6th July Handicap (Div I) (Class 6) (3yo+ 0-55).

From our handicap perspective maybe not an obvious choice but this one has been respected (+12lb) so qualifies as a selection.

It looks like we will need to pay attention to The Covex Kid who is due to run Friday. There has been quite a lot of interest from the BHA integrity Dept regarding the Aw win : see comments below from the RPost. Collects a 12lb hike and has a similar penalty for the race. Won well on latest run and could still be just ahead of the handicapper.

Further to earlier threads, Captain Kane at Ripon managed to shoulder the extra weight but was still just ahead of the handicapper to win yet again. The apprentice ride was impressive and the allowance probably made the win possible.

    Significant Handicap movements (24th May)
Runners having an outing before Saturday will be ahead of the handicapper, notwithstanding there will be a penalty incurred. The penalty level will still leave an advantage for the runners listed below.

Captain Kane has Ripon and Salisbury engagements (BHA site does not show the 5 day Salisbury entry so that may not apply as of today (Tues 24th May).

Tamaska shows as having a Beverley Wednesday engagement on the BHA site but not on Racing Post entries and isn’t showing on the overnight race.

Regarding earlier comment : Heredia (GB) ran Sunday so the revised handicap rating will not be shown until next Tuesday. She is currently on 91.

Currently rated at 91 the ITV4 televised race made it clear from the post commentaries that Heridia already had the potential for improvement and further to the race win will surely he hiked by the handicapper. The question is by how much ? It will be interesting to see the Official revised figure.

    Thanks Venture
As you will know I’m always fascinated by the handicap movements and like to follow up a few who have been hiked and are now having a quick second run before the new ratings that effect.

Brayden Star is the only runner from the group of handicap moves to have an early engagement.
Due to run Sandown Thursday evening in similar event to that when winning at Salisbury in emphatic style by 7 1/2 lengths. Now has Ryan Moore booked. 6lb ex but will still be 8lbs well in !

The list for this week’s hiked runners shows non that are future engaged to run before Sat.
It is interesting that the front running Lola Showgirl seems harshly treated with a 19lb rise in the weights. Ran 7th May Lingfield winning a filly’s Group 3 event beating a few who had ratings close to the 100 mark. As a consequence she is upped from 86 to a future 105. She is now a 5yr old but earlier form from the likes of Ascot and York have stayed in the handicappers mind and he has taken no chances.
