I assume all the MPs talking about conscription along with this Liberal nonentity will be encouraging all their children and their friends children to join up..
According to YouGov support for the UK joining the current war is at around 10%. Off they go then.
Wonder how long we’ll be waiting to hear all about how out of touch the media and many politicians are with public opinion.

Things are entirely different now. The days of soldiers going over trenches is thankfully history. Todays soldiers will be in underground secure areas firing missiles. Hitler was young when he started wars; hopefully Trump is older and will not last much longer.
What on earth on you going on about so there are no troops on the ground in Ukraine?
Yes it is different but troops on ground would be needed at some point.

I’ve always liked the LibDems and have even campaigned for them in the past. But I’m fed up of Ed Davey constantly criticising Keir Starmer ( à la Badenoch) just for the sake of it. If ever we needed a bit of unity in government it’s now.
At least the politicians of an earlier era were more honest and honourable.
World War One was an utter disaster but at least some of the politicians who got us into it walked the walk. 264 parliamentarians were under arms, 46 died on active service. Almost half of them were killed in action.

I somehow doubt any of our current lot would put their necks on the line. But they have just awarded themselves an above inflation pay rise. Trebles all round!
I notice that a few days ago Jacob Rees-Mogg opined: “In the next few years we may face a war. And if we face a war, we will need people who will join the armed services and who will go out and do their duty…people have to die to save their country as they did in the First and Second World Wars.” (my italics).
This lot never give up. I am convinced our political class actively wants a war with Russia. I expect it is pencilled in for around 2027.
It makes me think of the scene in “Duck Soup”, where a diplomat says he is willing to do anything to prevent the war and the great Groucho Marx replies “It’s too late. I’ve already paid a month’s rent on the battlefield.”
Anyway, Rees Mogg’s eldest son is now 19, so I assume he will be answering the call and getting measured up for his uniform and tin hat when the time comes.
Whether there is appetite for a war on the other side of that equation is of course another matter. How long has that ‘Special Military Operation’ been going on now?
There is a war of sorts already taking place online and they’re gradually winning that one.
Russia isn’t only winning the war online. It is winning on the battlefield as well. Ukraine cannot keep on sustaining such heavy losses.
