Oh look, another one who is too young to have had to do it the first time and is too old now. Knock me down with a feather.
January 31, 2024 at 05:02 #1679155I like Hague but he’s a mug to make a call like that , can’t and won’t happen … like the rawanda flights

March 4, 2026 at 13:37 #1757154Liberal Democrat MP for Tunbridge Wells and ex-British Army officer Dr Mike Martin has warned that “conscription might become necessary”.
They just cannot help themselves, can they?
I assume all the MPs talking about conscription along with this Liberal nonentity will be encouraging all their children and their friends children to join up..
March 4, 2026 at 13:50 #1757157According to YouGov support for the UK joining the current war is at around 10%. Off they go then.
Wonder how long we’ll be waiting to hear all about how out of touch the media and many politicians are with public opinion.
March 4, 2026 at 13:58 #1757158That poll was taken in tower hamlets

I would have always fought for this country as my late father did in WW2 would I fight for this bloke not a chance in hell
March 4, 2026 at 14:10 #1757159Things are entirely different now. The days of soldiers going over trenches is thankfully history. Todays soldiers will be in underground secure areas firing missiles. Hitler was young when he started wars; hopefully Trump is older and will not last much longer.
March 4, 2026 at 14:19 #1757160What on earth on you going on about so there are no troops on the ground in Ukraine?
Yes it is different but troops on ground would be needed at some point.
Anyway because of Starmer and my age I’m outBtw I would have laid down my life for Churchill, as a kid we always saluted his statue’s and dad told us the servicemen/women would have done anything for him
March 4, 2026 at 15:20 #1757163I’ve always liked the LibDems and have even campaigned for them in the past. But I’m fed up of Ed Davey constantly criticising Keir Starmer ( à la Badenoch) just for the sake of it. If ever we needed a bit of unity in government it’s now.
March 4, 2026 at 15:25 #1757164At least the politicians of an earlier era were more honest and honourable.
World War One was an utter disaster but at least some of the politicians who got us into it walked the walk. 264 parliamentarians were under arms, 46 died on active service. Almost half of them were killed in action.

I somehow doubt any of our current lot would put their necks on the line. But they have just awarded themselves an above inflation pay rise. Trebles all round!
