“I haven’t backed Modern Games, but I’d be livid if I had.”

Il be commencing an anti rain dance at 7am tomorrow

It looks like the weather front will hit the track at 7am-8am the worst of it is to the west

The main hope is that it blows through early enough for the warm temperatures to negate most of it

I mean modern games won the French guineas so he’s not useless with cut but it significantly harms his chances if enough rain falls for the ground to go good to soft

He goes from a 6/4 shot to a 4/1 shot in my mind

I woke up at six, and it’s been bucketing down here all morning, although I am a few miles from the racecourse (but still closer than Chezza).

If they’ve had this rainfall there, it’s definitely going to have an effect on the ground.

Racing Post….Going update: Ascot hit by downpour on Tuesday morning

Ascot has been hit by heavy rain before the first day of the royal meeting, with nearly 10mm falling in the early hours at the track.

Around 9.6mm of rain at the Berkshire course has been recorded since midnight.

They’re claiming the ground is unchanged but let’s see what the going stick says later – yesterday’s readings….

    “Stands side: 8.0
    Centre: 7.9
    Farside: 7.9. Round: 6.8.
Readings taken at 8am on Monday.”

Tad hyperbolic from the racing post

The CoC would probably have put another 5 or 6 mm on yesterday if no rain was forecast so it won’t make much of a difference

The temperature will burn most of it off before it gets into the ground

I’d be shocked if the ground wasn’t good or slightly better on the straight course

Whereas they are acting like its gonna be heavy

As stated elsewhere, I think it will now be Good as opposed to Good to Firm on the straight course.

Might be a tad easier on the round course, where it was 6.8 before the rain – only talking Good to Soft in places though, maybe at the lowest point at Swinley Bottom.
