You may have over egged me a bit there Ian. I was more a single poached egg than an omelette. They were happy days very happy. The writing and wit and bloodthirsty arguments are far better put today but what we had back then was oodles of energy. It was all Captain Scott and a pioneering spirit of doing it first, akin to Scott’s getting there first. And we could write what we damn well wanted to. I doubt someone named Jesus Christ would be allowed to write today. He swore a lot too !
Obsessives watching the obsessed one. Elvis Costello could write a song about it !
A repeat but a good one and the year 2000 and the start of talking horse houses.

……..along with Matron, Escorial, Sir Tristram, Jay Torbitt, Paul101, Pengamon, Ted, Kathy, Ardross, Zoz and of course Daylight.
It was a really good racing forum in those days.

February 16, 2022 at 11:55 #1583424It was fun all those years ago.
I wonder what happened to Pewter? He just disappeared one day and never returned.
February 16, 2022 at 13:52 #1583464I’d forgotten Pewter, he was always good for an opinion. JimJTS(?) was another contributor who always added life to the forum.

If the truth be known, there are probably more names to add considering it was over 20 years since I initially joined.
February 20, 2022 at 15:21 #1583993Hi Griff with the legs, thanks for bringing those names back up, and yes it was a laff a day back then specially in the very early days. I had a bit of a written chat with Pewter just after he left. He was married and had a bad back which had troubled him for years. He seemed in a very happy place with a lot going on. He was positive unlike his last post – the one finger !
As for the marvellously taciturn JimJTS ( A combination of Ray Winstone and Harry Worth ) he was always worth a read. He was a bit easy to have a go at because he was so outspoken. I really enjoyed his constant bemoaning the forum clock – and how the whole forum had become pants. - AuthorPosts
