Now that they have removed the ridges from the course, I wanted to know what difference it made to the standard times, the result even surprised me.

Using an estimated going allowance of -0.15s/f (slow side of good), and then comparing the original Racing Post standard times against today conditions, I found that using linear regression, I needed to subtract 4.0s from every standard time for the course.

Without the changes I would had the going allowance around +0.45s/f (good to firm).

    Turf going allowance table:
    Firm +0.55s/f to +0.63s/f
    Good/firm +0.20s/f to +0.53s/f
    Good -0.25s/f to +0.18s/f
    Good/soft -0.55s/f to -0.28s/f
    Soft -1.00s/f to -0.58s/f
    Heavy -1.58s/f to -1.03s/f

    Mike.
