I think that’s the case Ham.

Looks like this season has seen a major reduction – above is Irish jumps seasons only. They have entries for three horses, Yorkhill, bellshill and Voix Du reve at the festival and don’t appear to have entries for any other horses. Above is stats for Andrea & Graham Wylie – not sure if they have registrations under other names/partnerships (a lal Magnier et al).
They did have a run of very bad luck with injuries/fatalities – maybe that put them off the game?

They lost the likes of Nichols Canyon, Ballyward, Up For Review, Invitation Only and Clinton Hill in just one and a half years.
If you have two small daughters, it might be very tough to explain them where the horses have gone. I think kids have a very special affection for animals.
Apart from that, why bother competing with Gigginstown, JP and Ricci, when life has so much to offer for a family worth around £ 150 million???

Black Hercules pointing under syndicate name (but still with Mullins). His hunter cert has WP Mullins as the owner.

Bonbon au Miel dropped off the radar too. Last run was in the RSA 2 years ago- he fell, but was reported unhurt at the time.

Casualties will almost certainly have played a part but the costs of running such an operation, unless you have limitless funds, is like feeding very expensive buns to an elephant herd 24/7/365

Graham’s business background must nag away quietly at him with every training bill that comes in. He stayed very loyal to HoJO shifting a mountain of money his way. I suspect he has learned some hard lessons.

Never argue with a fool. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience, then onlookers might not be able to tell the difference. https://lazybet.com/

A few high profile owners have disappeared though. Clive smith and Jim Lewis. But they still seen at the races. Jim Lewis was at Sandown with a crowd a couple of weeks ago and see clive Smith sometimes. Also see much less of Andy Stewart around too

Suspect it’s just the cost and hassle and maybe just having been there done that with ownership. But with O’Leary out of the picture now, competition will clearly open up a lot

Thanks all, and yeah you would think some will come back into it clive, prices likely to come down a tad once giggy disappear, should open it up again for a few to come back if the cost was what sidelined them
