Just wonder if anybody else has had a poor start to the season???
Ive had 10 bets this season everyone a loser <!– s:( –><!– s:( –>
Last weekend one let me down in a placepot for about £5,000 <!– s:cry: –><!– s:cry: –>
Chepstow The Package 2nd(£75 win) <!– s:cry: –><!– s:cry: –>
Carlisle Mr Preacher Man 2nd@ 4/1 (£50 win) <!– s:cry: –><!– s:cry: –>
And today Osana at Chelts 2nd@ 8/1 (£50 win) <!– s:cry: –><!– s:cry: –>
And other various placepots where one selection has let me down!!!!
Might just take a break for a couple of weeks,to freshen up,i study the form book etc etc but when your suffering seconditus it can be a right kick in the guts!!!!!
November 18, 2007 at 17:28 #125488I’m still having a poor start to the year!
November 18, 2007 at 17:31 #125489Glad to hear it!!!
I kicked off the season with 2 wins from 2 bets to go 8 pts up but am now 4pts down, not least due to this weekend where 9 losers from 9 bets cost me over 7pts. Mostly my own fault (put too much faith in Pipe stable yesterday while backed today early based on the going being Gd/Sft) but not giving up hope just yet!!
November 18, 2007 at 17:39 #125491Had you been playing in the place markets you would be well ahead.
If you are just missing out on massive placepots as well, then you are in reality enjoying a great start to the season. You just dont have anything financial to show for it.
Check all your runner ups,and other runners, surely some of them can go on to frank the form? As for the winners maybe they can follow up.
You are doing better than most.November 18, 2007 at 19:23 #125511I can understand you not wanting to bet ew and if you did it would probably change your mind on what you would bet.
Apart from Kauto Star at excellent odds AP I have only had one bet this NH season. I very very rarely bet on the flat.
I am not in the UK now so I can sit back and wait until the time is right.
Seems I was a bit Lucky but Spotthedifference going for his 4th win was juust the ticket. Had a fairly big bet but only covered 1/10th of what I have on Kauto.
Need a few winners before Kempton to cover my backside incase he come a cropper so I will be keeping my eye out for the right ones. I hope
November 18, 2007 at 19:30 #125515I’ve had a good start to the season. Probably picked more winners than losers, which is an astounding thing for me to still be saying in mid-November! I have been pretty selective in my bets though, and I think that’s made the difference.
November 18, 2007 at 20:27 #125533marb, I doubt whether 8/1 about the top-weight in a soft-ground 19-runner event, where they are all in the handicap, would qualify as an each-way thieving opportunity.
November 18, 2007 at 21:13 #125543Here was I, opening this thread, thinking you were going to be talking about the number of injuries and fatalities incurred by high-profile horses performing on the NH stage.
But no, it turns out that you’re whining about your lack of success as gamblers. I would venture to suggest that this sort of topic is better suited to the Betfair forum than TRF.
November 18, 2007 at 21:17 #125546I would suggest that because this topic is about HORSE-RACING then it is suited fine to the HORSE-RACING section of this forum.
If you don’t like the standard of posts then leave or start an "interesting" topic!
November 18, 2007 at 21:27 #125550Im sorry for starting this post!
November 18, 2007 at 21:33 #125551There’s nothing wrong with this thread IMO
November 18, 2007 at 21:50 #125555Is there a difference between the BF forum and this one? Must say I have not noticed.
November 18, 2007 at 22:15 #125563Just thought fellow forum users would like to know how my punting has been going i will think twice next time
November 18, 2007 at 22:16 #125564Punting wise I’m probably about even steven despite losing on VPU & Clopf today but I’m just glad that this rain has finally arrived (and by god hasn’t it arrived) so some of these good horses that we’ve all been waiting for can have a run.
For starters the Betfair Chase is looking sensational if all of them turn up…
November 18, 2007 at 22:50 #125576I do well at this time every year by laying and rarely backing. I look for Grade 1 horses whose trainer is clearly using a race as preperation for a future target; and if they’re giving weight away or the ground is wrong, and the trainer is making excuses for them losing before the race, then that’s nice too. Voy Por was a good example today but I bottled it when the rain came (because that knocked out River City and Hasty Prince); luckily there was still Mac’s Joy…
Oh, and I think this forum should have more gambling-related threads. Because these sort of threads are not actually better suited to the Betfair forum at all; because generally gambling threads on there are monodynamic shouting-competitions (‘BACK!’, ‘LAY!’) which degenerate into a series of insults and insider jokes. It’s nice to share opinions on horse racing with others who use readable English and can offer their honest, insightful views on a horse’s chance without acting like a moron.
November 18, 2007 at 23:32 #125586Good shout NWRA
AS i said was just looking for views feom other punters on how they were doing..nothing more nothing less!
But you talk alot of sense
