    You would have to go back to the worst era in terms of quality which was the mid-1850s to mid-1860s and there are many candidates, however, a horse called Pimperne fell and was remounted three times on the first circuit in 1855 before calling it a day at the obstacle where the Chair is now which just about takes the biscuit.

    Of more recentvtimes; Ely Brown really had no place in the National field. An average hurdler having only his fifth start over fences. Surprise, surprise he fell at the first.

    I remember Huperade very well. He was an old favourite of mine and it’s a pleasure to *meet* his lad on here.
