Okay, there are loads of candidates, so we will allow one nomination per person and then, if we have enough candidates, have a vote.
My nomination: Aliens. Purely because of Newt and Hudson (although Bill Paxton is always annoying)
Nominations, if you please…
August 14, 2026 at 22:19 #1773349Schindler’s List!
Probably only film where I left early – I couldn’t follow it.
Obviously hadn’t done my homework!
August 15, 2026 at 03:03 #1773355Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives: I knew my fate right from the start when the first ten minutes or so just showed a water buffalo standing in a field. It didn’t get any better….
August 15, 2026 at 06:50 #1773356None of the sequels to The Matrix should ever have happened, they are absolute bilge. As we need one, I’ll nominate The Matrix Reloaded purely because it’s the first sequel.
I’m not even a massive sci-fi fan but the original Matrix film remains a masterpiece in my opinion and having seen a re-release in the cinema a couple of years ago I think it still holds up well today. Just a shame they had to churn out those awful sequels.
August 15, 2026 at 08:47 #1773368The film I was most dissapointed with was Jurassic Park. The trailers were all dinosaurs galloping majestically across a pastoral Jurassic plain but the film itself was largely just gratuitous violence. Poor old T Rex was my thought on exiting.
August 15, 2026 at 10:02 #1773378I’d like to put down about twenty so called great films, but it annoys when people are asked to name just one, but still put a big long list, so I’ll keep it to one
Has to be Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.
Hyped up massively at the time, with critics and audiences alike stroking their chins and discussing what a masterpiece it was
It was absolute nonsense, pure drivel. I still want my money back, and annoyed at myself for not asking
August 15, 2026 at 11:10 #1773389The Blair Witch Project.
Watched at the cinema, seen more scares on the BBC news, and worse of all the camera effects were making me feel sick. It’s a bit weird to me seeing Schindler’s List mentioned, as that would be in my ‘best films i’ve seen’ list if I did one.
August 15, 2026 at 11:15 #1773390I’d agree with Drone
A lot of noise for such crapGaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
August 15, 2026 at 13:54 #1773425I really didn’t like the last Wicked film
August 15, 2026 at 14:18 #1773428Most remakes of classic films which should never happen like The Italian Job, how could that ever be improved upon.
The more I know the less I understand.
August 15, 2026 at 16:03 #1773437By making it The French Job.
Just to annoy any Italians on the forum. 😂
August 15, 2026 at 22:25 #1773449Arnold Schwarzenegger’s film debut – Hercules in New York
Imo the worst Bond of all time – For Your Eyes onlyAugust 16, 2026 at 12:59 #1773476Totally agree with Mike, about the Blair Witch Project and also his opinion about Schindler’s List.
The are many crappy films a most famous example is Plan Nine From Outer Space, but while most films are not Oscar winners I do like to be entertained by them and lower my standards as accordingly.
In the spirit of Gladiateur’s original post I’d like to put forward KNOWING.
A Nicolas Cage film which seems to preach to it’s audience.
You've got to accentuate the positive.
Eliminate the negative.
Latch on to the affirmative.
Don't mess with mister in between.-------------------------------------------------------

Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
August 16, 2026 at 19:19 #1773490Difficult to pinpoint just one film. Some films have been flogged so many times on TV that they’re now hard to watch. Home Alone is an obvious example.
There are also some films so bad that they are entertaining in their own way like Killer Klowns from Outer Space.
I agree with Mike that The Blair Witch Project was a major disappointment.
The film that gets my vote is Superman 4. Crap plot. Awful special effects. Pathetic villain in Nuclear Man. Gene Hackman’s rendition of Lex Luthor is way off the mark. Absolute pants!
August 16, 2026 at 19:52 #1773492I’ve never dared watchThe Blair WitchProject. I used to spend a lot of time in fields in the dark feeding my pony and couldn’t risk watching something that might freak me out every time I heard about strange noise. The stables were held together with bits of string and very creaky. I was scared to go outside after dark for years after watching the Charlton Heston version of The Omega Man. I could watch alien because I’m never going to be in a spaceship. Having had scary things happen in a very old house I once lived in after doing a seance I never got over watching The Exorcist. I’m even scared if it’s on tv and the tv is off. Everyone else went home leaving me and my flat mate alone; the windows were banging and allsorts of stuff happened.
August 17, 2026 at 08:27 #1773505Absolute Beginners. I have never seen an audience storm the exit in such numbers. A terrible, terrible movie.
Honourable mentions for Mamma Mia and Billy Elliot.
