Who are the worlds top/best sprinters? We have the likes of Kingsgate Native and J J The Jet Plane, Black Caviar from oz, but what others are likely to take part in the worlds biggest sprint races this year?
Have england (Aidan O’Brien, Michael Stoute etc) recruited any this season, are any from other countries likely to come over for the Jubilee/July Cup? I for one would love to see Rocket Man come over and try his hand against the best, but im not sure if im correct in saying he races on Tapeta/Synthetic track?

April 20, 2011 at 22:31 #351329Black Caviar is acknowledged to be the clear best although she hasn’t beaten anything from overseas, but Australian sprinting is notoriously strong. Rocket Man, JJ the Jet Plane, and Hay List are the next tier. Hay List, like Black Caviar, also hasn’t faced any overseas competition so it’s hard to know how he matches up with those two.
Kinsale King and Sacred Kingdom (feeling his age and a fading force) are rated a notch below those. Overdose hasn’t raced top class opposition in quite awhile so people aren’t sure where to rank him, especially as he is getting older. Most are hesitant to rate him up there with proven horses like Rocket Man and JJ.Rocket Man entered for the Golden Jubilee, and has shown G1 form on turf (a few lengths worse off on soft ground) and synthetic Another Singapore horse Better Be The One went close in Dubai’s 5f Al Quoz (JJ won at a trip short of his best) is in both sprints.
Kinsale King entered for both sprints, and his trainer has entered an unknown quantity called Leaving New York in the Golden Jubilee. Sidney’s Candy, a top-class USA turf miler with remarkable early speed, is entered for the Golden Jubilee. Not sure about the form of the numerous other USA entries.
Star Witness has matched engines with Black Caviar and is entered for both sprints. BC’s stablemate Hinchinbrook also has form behind BC and is in the Golden Jubilee. Eagle Falls (generally struggles in strong G1s) and the unexposed Shrapnel also entered for both sprints.
The Hong Kong sprinters currently entered are no stars. I doubt Sweet Sanette will make the trip due to her temperament but she’s a solid 5f horse if all goes well, unproven over 6f. Sunny King was 2.5 lengths behind Rocket Man in Dubai, though the testing course will help as he’s a 7f horse.

Better Be The One is a weak formline. The horse is an average conveyance in the world of top class sprinters. Not even capable of racing in the same grade as better Australian horses when trained Downunder.
It would be fair to say Star Witness attempted to match engines with Black Caviar and blew a rod out the side of his block in the process.
